I carry a wallet, but not in my pocket. I have a large wallet, about the size of a checkbook. Have all my credit cards, ids and misc stuff. Typically I leave it in the car or carry it in my hand. It also fits nicely in the front (inside pocket) of my sport coat.

I guess maybe unless you think you will need ID, your phone can fill a lot of gaps. How unfair is it that men's clothing always has plenty of pocket space, and it is a major chore to find women's clothing with pockets that can hold more than a tube of Chapstick? And now men aren't carrying wallets? 100% unfair because my wife hands me all her $hit to carry in my pockets when we go someplace and she doesn't want to bring her purse. And I still carry a wallet. Everybody's stuff ends up in my bag, because they don't want to carry it - headphones, tablets, library books, water bottles, granola bars, and-yeah-DH's wallet when he's driving and it gets uncomfortable underneath him. Schlepping to and from work I've usually got a big open tote bag because it's easy to toss in a sweater or books to return. But if I'm shopping/hiking I want my hands free so switch only important things out to a crossbody bag. During the early shutdown I began putting 1 CC in my pocket rather than my wallet, to minimize how much stuff got touched when shopping. I skip the store rewards card, just punch in my phone # at the self checkout to access discounts. At work I get to see everybody's options for storage of cards - the keychain cards get mangled and scanners can't read them. Many guys have a traditional billfold with 2 inches of cards to sort thru. Women's wallets are massive things, they unzip to about the size of a hardcover book. Lots of staggered pockets to hold dozens of cards, but have to flip back and forth to 3-4 sections to find the right one. Need a big bag for that thing. Others have opted for those metal card cases - no dividers taking up space, just open the clamshell and fan the cards to flip thru. Usually have a few bills folded inside, too. Much thinner than a wallet. A few have card barcodes/numbers scanned on their phone instead of a physical card.

Well, when you get old like me & have several medical issues...you need a purse to hold all the "just in case" stuff. And at one time or another, all that 'stuff' has had to be used. I also not only have my phone to carry, I also have a remote that I have to keep with me at all times...back nerve stimulator....so my purse has a pocket on each end..that holds both of those. So any time you are out & need pill of any sort, just look me up since I'm a traveling OTC meds person.

While I am thinking these won't exactly work with my current car keys, I do have separate keys for my place basement storage, etc. I could easily use three out of a set of 5 and the house key chain that kind of lasted a year. Do you have one of those key docks? Did you mount your somewhere? I have only ever used the bigger version that only has the two halves. If I had more keys to keep track of I wouldn't hesitate to try the multi-key option. The product has held up amazing well over the years. I think it says on the site you can use anywhere from two to five of the adapter things, so you may be able to use just three if that's what you needed. Thanks for the info. With shipping I think the set of 5 is under $11. Going to sleep on it.

I use carabiners. Each key gets a small ring as do the little smart cards. My husband and I often change cars, so it makes it easy to take on/off carabiner. When I walk the dogs I often have only the carabiner and house key. When I go to lunch I take carabiner/car key/house key. I have a second carabiner with smart cards/office key/gym locker key in a backpack I frequently leave at my desk. I hook the carabiner on my purse strap, makes keys easy to find. I also hook them to a belt loop sometimes. That's what I want to do! My BMW key is too thick for current key chains and thankfully is not a fob. If I was still regularly doing raft trips I would already have some. No close stores like outdoor stores that sell them, and I haven't wanted to buy some 5 pack online sight unseen. I have seen them in Walmart, usually around the camping section and the auto section.

Most businesses in my area now prefer cards. I'm guessing some of the transaction costs for taking cards are offset by lower cash costs. Fewer bank runs, no skimming by employees, and easier record keeping.
There's a big country music festival in Myrtle Beach and they were cashless before covid. Some of the big sports stadiums have gone cashless.

I agree, my DH used to collect a lot of cash. it is a PIA to count large amounts of cash, and if you are the one going to the bank with it, you have to worry about being robbed. you don't have to count it, and you don't have to make a special trip to deposit it, and he did have some cash go inexplicably missing in the past - that is all gone now. Also many checks are now processed via computers and don't have to physically be deposited. I am sure banks have to have less personnel too.

It's been a running joke about how little my DH carries his wallet. This goes back to our teen years. Part of it is he often gets away with other people paying for him LOL.

My son bought his first wallet when he was about 14/15. I had set up a bank account for him, so it was for his debit card, some cash, and now his DL and insurance. He is 17. His leather wallet has "#1 Dad" engraved in it (and NO he is not a dad)

I mean if he was my son I would tell him I thought that was why he had it and appreciated his thinking that of me.

I forget my stuff so much I set it up so when I tell Alexa I am leaving the house she asks if I have my phone, reading glasses and wallet.

DH has repurposed a diabetic test kit case as a wallet. It's got multiple sections, is lightweight nylon and closes with Velcro, and he's happy about it. Regular wallets are too hefty.

I would lose and forget things all the time if I carried them in my pockets. I use a small crossbody purse, though not tiny. I can stick a water bottle in there in a pinch (and I have). As far as men and wallets, I had bf who fucked up his back my sitting on his wallet in his backpocket, and my DH's back was going the same way until I talked him into switching to a thin cardholder/money holder. I didn’t know this about men’s wallets causing problems. I sent that info to Mister. He keeps a lot of stuff in his wallet, the khakis and slacks that he wears regularly to work eventually get worn from his wallet. I never thought it could be wreaking havoc on his body too. Thanks for the info. I carry a purse, a big one. When I went to the doctor yesterday, I had to hang it on a hook next to the scale so I could be weighed. I joked that it was so heavy, it might tear the hook off the wall. It actually is heavy right now, I need to clean it out. It’s just so easy to keep throwing stuff in it because it’s so big. On quick runs to the store, I often just take my wallet. It has a wristlet style loop on it, which helps me keep up with it. When I go out, I carry a much smaller purse. My wallet won’t fit in my small purses, so I take the necessary things out of my wallet and put them in the zippered part of the purse. I use to live tiny purses, I’m not sure how I ended up at the other end of the spectrum.

DH carries a wallet, but he insists on a thin one and only carries DL, 1 CC, insurance card, minimal cash. For everything else - sunglasses, hearing aid batteries, IPhone, masks, he carries a man bag and has since we went to Europe back in 2002. It's hard to find him a wallet or man bag that meets his standards as to leather quality or size, so we usually order them from Italy.
I carry a fairly hefty shoulder bag because I have my wallet with CC's, cash, DL, insurance card, etc. plus sunglasses, pepper spray, Swiss Army knife, mirror, brush, lip gloss, breath mints, IPhone, masks, and garage door opener (because I park my car in the driveway and can't leave it in the car).
I wish DH did not carry a man bag, because that increases his vulnerability to street attack to the same level as mine and I only have one set of eyeballs. Our vacay was somewhat less than totally relaxing because of having to walk many blocks to and from the hotel with street people at every corner and whizzing by on electric scooters. It's so easy and common to have a bag of any sort grabbed and great risk of being injured when thrown down or dragged.

He's taken to keeping it in his car console (not always covered). I keep egging his friends on to "steal" it and let him stress for a couple of days. I went to get my hair cut and took his car since he just got home from work and ac was cool. They couldn't order dinner delivery because he couldn't pay. Pretty funny.

He probably didn't see the "#1 Dad" on it when he bought it- just didn't look

I know a few with wallet phone cases or they have a money clip with ID, maybe some cash and the frequently used credit/debit cards. Basically this for me… I have maybe 10-15 credit cards but I only use 1-2 on the regular: So carry a MC, a Visa and discover with me on the money clip, that also Holds my ID and anywhere from $20-$100. I don’t do the money clip attached to the phone case because I am always leaving my phone weird places, misplacing my phone or losing my phone. Don’t want to do that with my ID (a pain to get in DC with the points thing) and credit cards.
