And some people wonder why so many people have fled retail jobs. A cashier is dead and two people were wounded after a shooting broke out following an argument inside a Georgia store Monday afternoon over its COVID-19 mask policy, authorities said.
The incident took place near Candler Road in DeKalb County at a Big Bear grocery store around 1:10 p.m. when Victor Lee Tucker, Jr., 30, of Palmetto, Georgia, entered the store, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said.
Tucker, who was also wounded during the incident, allegedly got into an argument with a cashier about wearing a face mask while he was checking out his items, according to investigators.
Tucker left the store without making his purchase, but immediately returned inside. Tucker walked directly back to the cashier, pulled out a handgun and shot her," the GBI said in a statement.
MORE: Stop & Shop suspected shooter was a 'troubled employee,' police said
An off-duty officer, who was a veteran of the sheriff’s office, pulled his weapon and opened fire on Tucker, the GBI said. Tucker was hit but returned fire and hit the off-duty officer twice, investigators said.
Another cashier was grazed by a bullet and she was treated at the scene, according to the GBI.
The cashier who was initially shot was pronounced dead at Grady Memorial Hospital, the GBI said.link

There were plenty of crazy customers in retail long before Covid. Dealing with them just didn't make the news.

I discussed this with someone who also has a parent turning 90. Neither of us lives in easy driving distance of them, but flying again, post Covid with the crazies out? Its almost as worrying to me as getting Covid from the recirculated air.

People have gone straight up crazy. No wonder people don't want to work those jobs.
I don't know what's wrong with people for them to think it's okay to shoot someone because they asked you to wear a mask.

In 'Merica you have a constitutional right to bear arms to protect yourself from tyranny. Masks = tyranny. Therefore you are simply exercising your constitutional right in a situation like this.

You have a mistaken right because of current case law, because when recently has one of these idiots actually defended themselves physically from govt overreach? Near zero. While in other recent news, several tried to overthrow democracy and make the US a third world country because Trump asked them to. And because none of them apparently even remember much from their junior high social studies courses. I want to keep progressing to the America that should be, not some ill-remembered pre 1950s farce of existence.

And in any low end job, some people feel entitled to request you be fired, if you don't sufficiently read their mind or genuflect to their presence.

And in any low end job, some people feel entitled to request you be fired, if you don't sufficiently read their mind or genuflect to their presence. I'm going to add on to my thought here. In America we allegedly do not have a caste system. But in practice, for far too many people there is a hierarchy of worthiness. And at the bottom is retail workers. We need to get guns out of the hands of entitled people who cannot control their anger or sufficiently control their emotions in public. What is not a surprise is that this person left the situation, could have just driven off, but that wasn't enough to satisfy their sense of entitlement. So, probably thinking "how dare that female cashier thwart me", they came back specifically to kill them with a gun. Owning guns makes criminals of many entitled people. All the person had to do is walk a way and figure out how to chill. This pandemic has been very stressful, and its almost surprising that workers haven't fought back from the real rising abuse and death counts. If I lived in a concealed carry state, I'd watch myself and not be an asshole in any retail store. We are ripe for someone who has been shit on once too much to use his/her entitlement to take out an asshole customer. The biggest entitlement program the US has, is the belief and practice of buying guns for "protection". This is not the era of muskets when several well armed Americans might take on several bad govt actors also with muskets.

I wonder if they would also shoot someone because they had to wear shoes and a shirt? Is Merica the place where we can all finally walk around naked, as is our constitutional right? Clothes are tyrannical too. Wish I had the guts to show up at the Walmart bare ass naked cause Merica.
