His speech is now getting more exposure! Very interesting to learn about black history and Memorial Day!
Very ignorant and arrogant people who wanted to stifle this

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the people who thought that cutting the mike was cool. I might not always agree with the perspective and words of a person, but I would definitely NOT agree with cutting the mike. I'm not a snowflake. I am forever grateful to the speaker. My FIL was also a Lt. Col in the US Army and I greatly respect his service.

Disrespectful and completely horrible. Why are people so hesitant to hear history that isn't about white people?

I have never forgotten how my father told me when I was around 11 years old that he didn't believe that slaves were treated badly because they were so expensive.

Here in Iowa the Legislature is not going to allow what they don't approve to be taught. They have already killed diversity programs in the state universities. School districts aren't far behind in being allowed to teach the truth. I went to grade school in the county where Buxton is located. Presidential candidate Cory Booker's relatives lived there when it was thriving and watched it die. Until he talked about Buxton, I never even knew it existed. Nothing was taught in the local schools. We did get taught fairy tales about the Indians the city and county were named after.

I'll have to go hunt for the link, but the person who cut the mike has resigned and there are plans afoot to dissolve that entire American Legion Auxiliary. So in the end, they cut off their noses to spite their own faces and drew attention to what was being said so it got more widely stated than it would have if they had left the mike alone. And this was also pre-planned...they knew exactly where to cut the mike & where to turn it back up again.

Hudson Ohio - outside of Akron, in northern Ohio, right?
I’ll have to remember this the next time some arrogant northerner tries to tell me racism against blacks only exists in the South. I’ve lived in both places; the only difference is the northerners try to be more subtle about it. My mom, born and raised in middle PA, was one of the most racist people I knew. She just hid it, except around family.
