I sort of did a version of this, primarily for DH sake. His eyes glaze over whenever I discuss investments or financial goals. I wrote up a pretty detailed plan in military operational planning style to appeal to him, starting with a Mission Statement. He read it, and appreciated it -- I think I did this around the time I retired, so maybe 2006? I was going to update yearly..... I'm thinking I never did.... Will try to dig it up this weekend and see what I think of it now!

I would have thought that it was moot after retirement, but maybe just that I am on the other side and can't see the forest through the trees.

This is where I am at so far.
Goals: 2 million in savings to retire Minimum of 24k/yr. yield from dividend portfolio 1 year in I-bonds
Target allocation: money market 1% I-bonds 4% dividend portfolio 35% growth portfolio 60%
Current allocation: money market 0% I-bonds 0% dividend portfolio 19% growth portfolio 81%
Plan: For the most part, fill up buckets prioitizing the highest risk/reward to get it in for growth. With some deviations. I am still shy of the raw number for the growth portfolio. Once that is filled out, I'll concentrate on finishing the dividend bucket. I-bonds are limited in purchasee per year, so will try to max that each year going forward. I have a large stach of cash I plan to spend on home upgrades, so while not counted here, I could still access at the moment for any EF needs, so not worried about having no cash in the bucket. Will aim for 10k once I empty the home improvement funds.
I just started the dividend portfolio this year. Well - Maybe december of last year. I am feeling like I need to start the less aggressive pieces of the plan and feeling a bit insecure in the market right now.
I would say I was a few years away from retirement but honestly I could collapse at any moment and/or leave in a huff over something because I am so over it all with work right now.

I am retired military -- I was 41 when I retired, with two kids, ages 11 and 1. My husband retired a few years later. So our early retirement plan had to take a lot into consideration. Two kids to put through college (one down -- the youngest still in high school) as well as working through survivorship issues just in case.
