One third of rural ambulances may close in the near future

I suspect its not only rural ambulances as I know of at least one fully volunteer one for a small town in central New Jersey.

This has been discussed in Iowa for several years now.  

Covid didn't help because so many of their fundraisers were cancelled last year.

I always make an annual contribution to my local volunteer fire department.

Our Fire Companies are also having issues with a lack of volunteers. We just got a fundraising letter from the local fire company and they are having to hire a full time employee due to a lack of volunteers.

I subscribe to both the ambulance service and the fire company, but it does strike me as odd that they aren't included in the property taxes, which are more than double of my old home where they were both included.
