I saw the Trial of the Chicago 7.
It was a good movie - but I'm kinda over baby boomers celebrating their awesomeness and how they spoke truth to power, and then turning around an installing politicians with oppressive agendas.

I saw the Trial of the Chicago 7. It was a good movie - but I'm kinda over baby boomers celebrating their awesomeness and how they spoke truth to power, and then turning around an installing politicians with oppressive agendas. Haven't watched the movie, but what's up with the hatred? No generation is one thing and do you even know they are Boomers? Abbot Howard Hoffman (November 30, 1936 – April 12, 1989), better known as Abbie Hoffman, was an American political and social activist who co-founded the Youth International Party ("Yippies") and was a member of the Chicago Seven. Not a Boomer, ten years too old.Jerry Clyde Rubin (July 14, 1938 – November 28, 1994) Also not a Boomer, eight years too old.David T. Dellinger (August 22, 1915 – May 25, 2004) was an American radical pacifist and an activist for nonviolent social change. He achieved peak prominence as one of the Chicago Seven, who were put on trial in 1969.
Thomas Emmet Hayden (December 11, 1939 – October 23, 2016) was an American social and political activist, author, and politician. Hayden was best known for his role as an anti-war and civil rights activist in the 1960s, authoring the Port Huron Statement and standing trial in the Chicago Seven case.
Well, that's four of them and none of them are Boomers. One is even from the Greatest generation and the rest are from the Silent generation. All older people are not Boomers.

I watched "My Octopus Teacher" which is nominated for best Documentary (full length). Interesting, but weird. It is on Netflix.

I enjoyed The Chicago Seven and didn't have the same take on it at all. I learned a bit of history and was sad for how little changed in 50 years.

I have been meaning to watch Crip Camp. Crip camp and mole agent both look intriguing. I also suggest watching the short animated. They are as short as 6 minutes - so about an hour to watch all the nominees (or at least the ones you can find). They cover a pretty big range of subjects and moods - so they are fun. Last year's winner - a must if you love cats.

I saved this video on YouTube. Name of the short live action film is 'Stutterer'. It won the Academy Award in 2016 for short live action film.

Not an Oscar contender but you might like this 8 minute video. Watched it the other night.

I watched Nomandland. Good, but weird. It felt more like a collection of short stories - very short stories, but there wasn't a very compelling overall plot. I seem to like it less than everyone else.
I also saw Promising Young Woman. It was one of those that the end justified the movie. You know those movies that you feel the writer had a super clear vision of the final scene, and then built the movie to get there. I liked it, but not the best "Best Movie" contender I have seen.
I also watched Crip Camp, which was free on Netflix. I highly recommend it. An important little piece of history that you should know. Judith Huemann is a f*%king bad ass!

Just watched The Father. Sooo good. So far, it is a real standout among a lackluster field.
I tried to watch Mank - I don't think it worked.
Also, the longer I sit with Promising Young Woman, the higher on my list it gets.
We watched Minari- it was good. I loved Grandma. It was a real American story.

Watched Sound of Metal. The lead actor was amazing. It was a great movie - good story, well put together. If they don't win sound editing, I am not even sure what that award is even for. Highly, highly recommend.
I also watched the last two documentaries. The Collective was really good, and of course, sad. But it was interesting to see the whole thing laid out.
Time was good. It was extremely personal. It was about one family, putting a face on a systemic problem. It was from one family's point of view. I think I may have been expecting additional information, but that wasn't what this was.

I watched The Life Ahead the other night. The movie is up for best original song. Sophis Loren was excellent in the movie.
There was one very brief scene in the movie which made me cry. If you have had a parent, sibling, other family member or very close friend suffer from dementia/Alzheimer's disease you would understand why it made me cry.

I am disappointed Nomadland won, but at least it wasn't Mank.
They really f**ked up the ending of the Oscar's.

I only saw part of it, but I agree with one article that they should not have ended with the best actor award and stuck with the usual best picture award.

I think officially the Oscar's sucked this year. Fox thinks it is because they are too "woke". I'm not convinced - but there were a couple of obvious messages. Aren't there always?
