We were recommended by our cable guy to get a MESH WIFI system. Our modem and router are upstairs in my office and TV downstairs at other end of house. Have a booster in dining room about in middle of house. WiFi gets very slow often and I’ve been resetting several times a day. TV also poops out when using Roku fairly often MESH Systems with 3 units are only around $200 but are set up with smart phone app Question- do these MESH units need to be reset with app after a power outage? We have power outs maybe once/month and it would seem a PIA to need to reset each unit every time. Anyone use MESH systems? Recommendations ? We have a generator but there’s a few minutes gap between power out and generator start Thanks for any help!

Before you do that - how old is your router? We had the internet from the cable provider then switched to a he telephone provider (much faster speed) and suddenly we started having download issues. DS suggested out old router wasn’t able to keep up with the higher speed and was making the feed unstable. We got a new router that has the ability to have boosters added in, but so far, doesn’t seem like we’ll need the boosters, the feed seems a lot faster and more stable now. How old is your current router?

We switched a few months ago. The system we have is a tp link MESH AC1300. Our signal is in the living room, where 80% of our use is. We have units in the master bedroom (which is the other end of this floor) and in the basement. I’ve not tried out the basement unit yet as we don’t spend much time down there, but it seems to work very well in the bedroom where getting a signal was a problem before.
Yeah....it does need to be reset after a power outage, which is a pain.

I have the Google Wifi Mesh network. You do not need to reset anything if the power goes out, it just reconnects. It's a good solution if you don't ever want to or need to mess around with the router, it's basically supposed to be plug/play. You can see the status of the network, reset it, do speed tests, etc all from the app and remotely.
I have a ranch home with a very large footprint and a full basement. My internet comes into the house in the basement, which is where I have the main Google unit setup. I have 3 additional ones upstairs spread throughout the house. I pay for 150 Mbps download speed and i just tested it. I was at 157 download and 11.1 upload in the farthest corner of my house. I was at 195 download and 9.89 upload in the family room (central). It's not always that fast, it varies depending on when I test it.
I've had it for a couple years, bought it at costco. Very happy so far.

We switched around Christmas time. I bought an net gear orbi. From my research, it would make it the farthest. Our house is only 2050sf, but we just —well in the fall—built a room in our detached garage for a home gym space. It’s about 15 yards front he house. That setup gets the WiFi out there so we can use the Apple TV. We also have power glitches at least once per month. We fortuitously happen to be on a high priority grid, so we don’t lose power as often as the normal town grid. It doesn’t seem like I’ve had to reset it, but maybe it just had worked out okay?
