Apparently, too hard. What's really bad is this behavior is so commonplace. And how bad it gets before upper management takes action.

It's apparently too hard to behave appropriately at work.
LSU just banned Les Miles from being alone with female LSU students instead of firing his butt. Apparently football really does trump all. And they conspired with his lawyer to bury the report that has been disclosed.
I don't get it. Go to work, earn your money and be a sleaze on your own time away from work.

It shouldn't be hard, but too many men still feel entitled to harass women. I don't know why he thought this was a good thing to say-
Simons was defiant last week, saying that he planned to sue over the “unfounded” claims and comparing himself to Supreme Court Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh, who faced allegations of sexual assault in his confirmation hearings.

Every single job I have held, I have had to go through sexual harassment training. Is this not a requirement anymore, or do these men think it does not apply to them?

Gov Cuomo is having difficulties now , think with 3 women. He was asked if he took the training - yes This seems to get more attention in the news than the additional 10,000 nursing home Covid deaths He’s circling the drain of impeachment

He’s saying not true, but I’m more inclined to believe the source. I think 2 more women stepped up, so 5.

Every single job I have held, I have had to go through sexual harassment training. Is this not a requirement anymore, or do these men think it does not apply to them? I think there should be a section in the training with 'scripts' of how to deal with some of the issues right when they happen. The article has some classic ways that women tend to handle harassment (by avoiding the harasser): “My colleagues helped me relocate to a desk further away from him under the pretense that my pregnancy required closer proximity to a restroom rather than addressing his harassing behavior,” O’Brien said on Thursday. “Mine is just one of many instances that were handled by avoiding the real issue.” A script of sorts and public awareness of the script - might be a good way for the denser harassers to realize it's not a game (playing hard to get) or women being women or be able to brush it off as "but they like it!". It also lets you do the "this is the 3rd time I've said something. What the fuck is wrong with you? " You can also throw in something like "do I look like your mother? do I have to keep reminding you to behave appropriately? Here, let me call her..." (ok, I witnessed the Dragon Lady do that last bit about calling mom... back in the 80's. she also had some choice words involving "your quarter inch" and she would brandish a weapon - ruler, pencil the cigarette she was smoking with threats of violence. )

The LSU stuff apparently just surfaced so KU put him on some kind of leave. It sounds like he hasn't done well there and they are trying to fire him with cause so they don't have to pay out his contract. He was one of the names that came up a year ago when Colorado was looking for a new coach after the one year wonder left. I think after what CU has gone through in the past with the football program, it's a good thing they didn't hire Miles.

You know I'm old, but sexual harassment has been going on for as long as I've been working. I started working in 1968. There was no training then.
My personal opinion is the so-called training just gives them cover. It doesn't teach them anything.
I'm also certain the behavior didn't start in 1968. Until the feminist movement happened, women didn't say anything.

Until the feminist movement happened, women didn't say anything. A few years ago I read an article about some survey that showed corporations had mandatory harassment training, but in a large majority of the companies, executives were either specifically or functionally exempt. If you think about who has the most power and who has the most cover in a company, we have been training exactly opposite as we should have. A guy on the manufacturing floor says a bunch of crap to a co-worker (a) has no power over her to get her fired or whatever, (b) is unlikely to have the right friends to sweep it under the rug, (c) is fairly easy to reprimand and fairly easy to replace and (d) was more likely to have taken the training than a VP. The VP (a) can use his power of hiring, firing, promoting, reviewing and mentoring to use as bait, (b) is more likely to have a private area that is out of sight or earshot, (c) probably hangs out with the CEO or the head of HR or whatever, (d) is difficult to replace, or even discredit and (e) probably didn't bother taking the training. That said - the ones who had been taking the training during their early years of their career are now in positions of power. In my life, I saw some terrible shit go down, and it has tapered off. So, either the younger executives have learned to not do it, or to cover their tracks better or I am not as tempting as I used to be. 😔

Yeah I hit a certain age and my male colleagues stopped offering to rub my back or asking if I wanted to go to the strip club for lunch.

I got my first pay job in the early 60's as a teen. Lots of hands where they shouldn't be, but we needed the $$. As I got older and worked at higher paying jobs, the approaches were a little classier but same old stuff. It looks like nothing has changed much today. Very sad.
