So, if I was armed and protesting and I saw a car/truck heading for me or other protestors could I shoot at the vehicle and hopefully kill the driver and it would be self defense? Would I get off scot free if I killed the driver (or any of their passengers) Basically, would the laws protecting people who shot people who they think are going to hurt them, protect me in the above situation?

Would a liberal plowing into a Proud Boys protest get the same protections?

What the hell is this country coming to. I hope all these potential laws are overturned by the courts.

I am sure many of them will be. but the fact that the GOP sees this as necessary is rather troubling, in itself. they are more neo-fascist than I would have imagined, even given the Trumpyness.
edit: if half the states have this legislation, it must be "draft legislation". it must have come from ONE SOURCE. I would like to know what that source was.

There is some very real strategy and organizing happening there. They are working really hard to take over and transform your country. I really don't think the powers that be are taking this seriously enough.

I have been concerned about this since the "Trap Law" legislation and "Project Red Map" came to pass. these were organized and coordinated efforts to disenfranchise and diminish the rights of citizens. it is, again, deeply troubling. but it is mos def a trend. and it appears to be accelerating.

so we know that millions are ok with this. With all the rhetoric on "real americans" they easily dismiss anyone not in lock step as not important, not real, not american.

Millions are more than okay with it, they are complicit. My concern is that the people not complicit with it aren't taking it seriously enough.

if they WERE capable, they would stop saying shit like this.

they got it all from GOP elected and fox news.... it's become ingrained in their speach/brain over the last 10-20 years. and some have grown up with that on the TV and in their house. I just don't see a way out. there is some crumbling - but not enough in my opinion. hopefully the ongoing investigation will crack into some people's heads and they can see what's real and what's just bullshit talking. But - then there are a whole slew who knew that the election was fair and were ready to flip it over anyway. they are still hard at work, and that is very scary. .

but then again, I live in a place where things like that are questioned. and so, I question myself.
an echo chamber provides no way out. the only way out would be to shut down the media or demand a return to the fairness doctrine. neither of those things is ever going to happen, so I think you are right. this is a long, miserable path we are on. we are going to defend our freedom to repress other people, apparently.
