Thursday must have been the day to declutter money. I even got nikiz628 beat. Put the deposit down on the siding for the house. Finished the large beading project that I have been working on. Will take a little break and work on some smaller projects for a while. House is in good shape -- caught up on most things. May have one load of laundry to do tomorrow but otherwise I am ok there. Dishes are up to date. Made a small grocery run this morning. Got the first dose of the vaccine this afternoon and have my appointment for the 2nd dose.

My goals for this weekend are:
- Paint the wall in DS1's room. When he re-arranged and got new furniture, we moved a lot his wall hangings, leaving holes and dents. So I spackled and sanded this week. Once I get the wall painted, we can hang his new decor up.
- Start emptying kitchen cabinets to prep for repainting them. I plan to tackle one cabinet at a time, so I can toss what we don't need before I store it for painting.

No, debthaven , I'm sorry to report that our house has not closed yet. Blame COVID. It has made paperwork processing a nightmare. Still waiting... That really sucks. I sold my old house in March and bought the next one in July. Neither had any paperwork problems. I did have to get creative with finding a notary but the website Thumbtack was useful there. I've since used it to find a yard guy and a plumber.

Decluttering goals- go to Home Depot and exchange the hard-wired smoke/CO2 detector for a battery-operated one. New showerhead - forgot to take it off when clearing the pipes after BIL replaced my hot water heater so now it's clogged full of crap. Laundry. Lots of laundry I should probably vacmum since I think that cat has as much litter on my floors as she does in her box! I'm sure I had other grand and glorious plans but it's crappy out and I Don't wanna move. OH! The bank to deposit the stimulus check that has already been spent for the water heater. I got to enjoy the idea of stashing half of it into savings for a grand total of about an hour. Then I went to start laundry. That ended that dream.
OH! Also decluttering a bag of Mason jars to my neighbor. I'll get a jar of honey in return. She's a beekeeper.

I do mine a couple times a year to keep them cleared. will probably have to do more often in this house, with well water.

That's a thought. It works on hard water too, doesn't it? Because I have that joy in my life as well.

CCL the desk is too minimalist for our needs, but I love it! It looks like you could add another shelf if you need one. You could have a small drawer unit to one side, ie where the plant is. And put a printer on top if you use one. I swear I don't work for Ikea LOL, but they have small units that would work. I found out this afternoon that I'm supposed to go back to Job 1 in person on Mon 25 Jan. To say I am freaking out would be a huge understatement. Numbers are up, and the population I teach is generally not careful. I am hoping to get a medical dispensation. I made an appt with my GP for Tuesday afternoon. But I may be dreaming, and I don't know my new GP very well. She may well refuse. With numbers going up and talk of a third lockdown, and the vaccine so close, this seems frankly criminal to me. Or maybe one of DH's nieces/nephews will finally move out!!wvugurl26 , if they're planning to in the near future, maybe they'd be interested anyway! busymom did your house close?! debt! I hate to say it, but it might be worth taking this as a hill <not!> to die on. I dreamed last night about our family friend who passed away. In my dream, he was given 6 months to live and he and family were deciding how to approach those 6 months. Really has me moody today. Sad he didn't get that 6 months warning, wondering if the dream was a warning to me. If I got that news - how would I spend the next 6 months? Do I only have 6 months? Who could know?? Now I wonder if that dream was for me to warn you!!

Hugs debthaven You saw my answer on FB. A shield by itself is not good enough. You all know I'm very emotional when it comes to Lucy Cat. I did not like the urn the vet clinic put here ashes in. I bought an urn for her ashes off Etsy. It is absolutely gorgeous. It's handmade from wood and then stained and personalized. I'm going to order another one for my very first cat just like it and then DN3 will come and move the ashes as I can't do it. I wanted to see what the first one looked like before I ordered another one.

Thanks TheO. ❤️ To be clear, I used the face shield for 48h in either late Aug or early Sept, but never since. I’m glad you found an urn you love. Rukh O'Rorke I know you only mean well but it’s 2am and I’m still freaked out. My kids feel the same way. DS2’s GF promised me her Dad would do me a medical certificate if my GP won’t. That’s so sweet of her, but I know it’s not her decision. A, who teaches MS and HS, thinks I’m being ridiculous, since she has been teaching face to face for months. That’s fine, I don’t GAF what A or anyone else thinks about this. I know it’s not safe now with that population, and that’s enough for me.

Rukh O'Rorke -- haven't taken pictures yet. Because this was based on a class I took and a limited number of people took that class I am not comfortable posting the picture here. If you want I can send you one via PM later.

While cleaning out my desk today I realized I already have a drawer. In my printer stand/file cabinet, so I might be able to use that instead of buying something new just to get a drawer. Have to eliminate some of the contents to make it all fit in one drawer instead of two. Debt, I've got my fingers crossed for you that you'll get the medical dispensation. That sound crazy to me to expect anyone to go back in person. I wouldn't want to do it, either. You've got to look out for yourself first. Do they have any vaccines available yet?

Hi all - I know it's been ages. My procrastination has been in full force, but lately I seemed to have turned a corner and dabbled in lots of projects in the last few weeks. None seem actually finished, but I feel like I am headed in the right direction. I just thought I'd mention my desk solution - had an old DIY tall bookcase that was really sagging, so saved various pieces that were still OK. Used the long side panel and stretched it over 2 spread-apart lateral 2-drawer file cabinets. It's worked pretty well. Since I'm trying to do something similar while working at home, I bought 2 3-drawer file cabinets from WalMart - they are not very big (letter-size wide, legal-size deep), but each has 2 drawers of filing space, and then a small drawer at the top for desk supplies. No more bookshelf wood left, but a Pier One store was closing nearby. 2 entire walls worth of built in shelves, and they were selling the shelves for $5 each, so I ended up with 2 of them. I think they are about 24" x 50" so one is the new desk top.
Other projects include working my way through 30 years of paperwork. I am not good at throwing things away, but am really trying. I finally decluttered the Toyota Highlander (hurrah!), and now working on the garage clean out. Our city does bulk pick-up trash appointments, so I am scheduled next Saturday to remove broken dryer and fridge. Also working on replacing a plastic border in the side yard with a cement block one, and slowly planting flowers in the border beds.
Speaking of paperwork I am afraid to throw away, my Mom passed away in 2010, and we (my 2 sisters and I) sold her house in 2011. Can I shred that paperwork? I need permission...
I am still not back at work, and as our agency is mostly still shut down, I don't have access to a good scanner. I am 4 weeks into the first 13-week extension (because I was back at work from May 15 to end of August, but only from home), and haven't gotten paid since Dec. 19th. It will come, but it's a little scary. I can't imagine what others are going through. Luckily I am old enough to get Medicare, as COBRA would have been $$$$$. But anyway, debt - trust your own feelings - if you don't feel safe, it's just not worth it. The O - it's great you found something beautiful for your Lucy and other kitty. Our pets give us so much love and companionship. My dog Sadie is coughing a lot, but vet has her on pain and cough medicine.
Happy New Year to all - your adventures in decluttering and organizing are inspirational! Now I just need to get going again...

I tried to show before and after pix on my border, but copy and paste isn't cutting it. Oh, well. Still about 20 more feet to go, anyway.

Looks like the snow is telling me to stay home and finish up the laundry. I was gonna go into work but big fluffy flakes are coming down. I'd rather not drive in it if I don't have to. My boss'll understand. Thankfully, we're pretty caught up AND tomorrow will be another day to catch up since there will be few people in the office.

DH was why we had the handheld in the first place. I'm not getting rid of the setup as it was installed when we put in the shower but I can put in a stationary head for me that won't move every which way but on me! Hell, I may even get a tub put back in again. I miss baths.

Ouch, sorry, debthaven. I understand. It is too dangerous at this time to be working face-to-face with young adults.

Wow this thread moves fast!!
I've now done the family room (which the kids call the living room bc that's where our 'living' is done 🤣) including that wall of cupboards and music room yet again. I've been working on it daily but it takes a lot of time

Things have been fairly quiet around here, I have been staying home, working and sewing.
I really need to get to the laundry mat with 4 weeks of clothes but have been procrastinating every day. Counting down the weeks until I can finish my laundry room and buy my own washer and dryer.
My older dog has been fairly clingy lately, he’s sitting on my lap now sleeping. That’s keeping me from doing some of the outdoor projects I want to finish before spring. The weather should be nice this week so I may be able to get out the tools and get it done.
