Today:
Steam cleaned and vacuumed the dining room, the entry way, the library, and my bedroom. (TWICE!)
Washed all the dishes and put away most of them.
Took out the trash and the recyclables.
Wash, dried, and put away four loads of laundry.
And purged some more clothes from my closets and drawers.

Welp, we are back in quarantine. DS2 tested positive today. I am not surprised, his best friend tested positive on Monday and they are inseparable at school. They let them drop masks outside at recess, so sharing is what they did apparently. Half of his kindergarten class is now in quarantine. So stressful! How’s it going? Well DS1 tested positive on an at home test yesterday, so we are going tomorrow for a real test. His school doesn't accept at home test results. It's not been too bad, I just feel like I am disinfecting in circles. Thankfully, I am vaccinated and my at home test was negative. It must be doing something for me to avoid it when everyone else in the house has had it. I will be getting a real test tomorrow as well just to be safe.

I took the first load of stuff over to where I hope to move. House hunting was a bust this weekend. The Victorian that I thought might be livable while I finished the renovations is definitely not livable and a lot of what the guy did needs to be redone. Another house the street and neighborhood were way hillier than I realized. As DD said you wouldn't want to go for an evening walk in the neighborhood because it wouldn't be enjoyable, it would just be too much work. The house also had a basement area that I thought would make a nice sewing studio. The basement isn't accessible from inside the house you would have to go outside and around the house. House number three was just strange and then couple with the fact that the house on the lot behind sat higher so those people could look right down into your yard and house and we could see security cameras all over outside. No thanks. The office feels so much better without the sewing things in it that I plan on making that permanent. It is better for my mental health to not be cramped into a crowded room with the door shut for multiple hours a day.

I'm happy about our state of purging, which now is not immediately filled up with Stuff we're bringing in the door. We have finally cleared out enough that each room, except for one, is cleanable without a prep hour of putting Stuff away. The one room DH uses for preparing items to be mailed that he's sold on eBay. That is just going to look a bit chaotic for a while.
I hope to have the house in shape to host Thanksgiving for my family to come down from Massachusetts. That will depend on our getting the home equity loan closed so I can contract to get some needed repairs and painting done in October. I'm hoping . . . Everyone seems to be wanting loans now to do additions, renovations and etc. We're in the queue.
Once everything is in good order we'll plan on when to list the house for sale, too. I'd hoped to list it in November. We'll see. In my neighborhood, which is highly desirable to buyers, there is now only one house for sale out of about 500.
One thing I'd bought a couple of months ago which has proven to be really helpful with cleaning is a Shark cordless vac. It is very lightweight compared to my Miele canister vac and perfect for pet fur and dust cleanup. It can be used with or without the floor head and the vac head can be used alone as a handheld. It's so easy I actually do use it without a big effort and plan. The only complaint I have is that the dirt canister is fairly small. But, I can live with that.

My first night's sleep in Canada. Got much needed rest. Didn't really sleep well at the hotel because I knew I had to drive thru Toronto yesterday.
We hit road construction so got here an hour later than the GPS had said when we left. So not bad.

Congrats on your arrival in Canada Theo!
I bought a RAV4 Prime which is a Plug in Hybrid/EV combo. I knew we needed to clean the garage, but I was not aware that DH picked up some cabinets and a counter top that some neighbors put out on the curb about a week ago. Cabinets would be for his office, but he would need to paint them. Sigh. He promised me he is going to clean it out tomorrow. In any case, we will get rid of some stuff tomorrow evening b/c Tuesday is the last day the is open on a Tuesday until 8 pm. Our city is open until 3 on T/F/Sa but DH usually works every Saturday until at least 12, which actually usually extends to 1 or 2 pm. He has missed a lot of Saturdays lately, so he does not need to miss another one. We also have a Queen Size mattress in the garage, but I have mice in my garage, and the mattress has been out there for more than a year. I told DH it needed to go to the and he was just like we will check it, and if it is still good, we will bring it in the house. I am very nervous. I really would rather take the loss. I bought DD and DS each a mattress when they lived together in an apartment when they were in college. Both ended up deciding they didn't really like it. DD's is in the garage, and DS gifted his to his Ex GF when he moved out. DD left hers in the Garage and bought a new one. The rest of the stuff in my parking spot is mostly stuff she left behind too. Good thing my car burns regular Gas, b/c otherwise I wouldn't be driving it. We probably could charge off our pillar outlets, but if DH wanted to do that he would have without me mentioning it. He thought about charging off the outlet in front of the house, but he said the cord would not reach far enough.
DS still hasn't taken his bed frame from his old room, but when he does, I will set up my new office in one of our two empty rooms. We had planned to move the "Guest Bedroom" to DS's old room, and use the front bedroom as my "office".
Finnime: Good luck on listing your house for sale. I have my Filters on Realtor.Com set to filter out Pending/Contingent houses. If you do that there are only one or two houses available in the more desirable cities around me. My DN just bought a different house. When they listed their old house, they had an accepted offer in less than a week. They are packing up right now, closing on new house is scheduled for 10/22 but they are trying to change it to 10/14 because otherwise they will be moving in during the new subdivision's ToT celebration.
Sharon, I hope you find something soon - you are living with your DD right now?

Okay, debthaven and finnime, I give up. What is a vertical cow? I looked it up and found Battle Cow storage. Is that the same thing? TheOtherMe, I am so happy for you regarding the painting and your destination arrival. moneysquirrel, fingers crossed your home insurance covers as much as possible. Great job removing the items from your garage! startsmart, have a wonderful trip! Way to be proactive with the leaves, nidena! I'm also in the clean the washer, but probably not often enough crowd. I run an empty cycle with bleach. I made the decision beforehand to stay home yesterday instead of going on an ATV ride with the club. To have the house to myself on a weekend day off with no guilt was blissful! Not that DH is loud or anything, it was just nice to not have him going in and out of the house from the garage, etc. I slept in a bit, sipped coffee while enjoying the silence, and read a bit before starting chores. ~3 loads of laundry ~Emptied the dish drainer ~Moved last month's Sam's Club haul to the kitchen pantry and drawers, and the bathroom cupboard. This cleared up a few square feet on the back pantry floor. ~Boiled eggs, processed produce for this week's lunches, and made homemade cherry tomato sauce to use up the rest of the garden harvest. ~Planned suppers for the week, watered plants ~Cleaned all toilets, emptied 2 garbage cans, and took the garbage, an empty Amazon mailing envelope (from 3 months ago!), and a broken down box to the can closet ~Did my finger and toe nails, talked to my Dad, texted several family members, played Words with Friends, and streamed my football team game

LOL Iggy aka IG I actually looked for a photo of it, but couldn't find one. I got it 30 years ago. It's a small/low wooden vertical file. It's U-shaped but with hard edges, so like this: l_lOn one vertical piece of wood there is a painting of the front of a cow. On the other there is a painting of the back of a cow. My Shitepile baseket is horizontal. The Cow is vertical, so it's for any papers I'll need soon, ie gift vouchers, plane/train/hotel/concert reservations, etc. Hope that makes sense LOL! Congrats on getting to Canada TheOtherMe ! You made it!!! Enjoy your new car bean29 ! How exciting! You're making such great and steady progress finnime ! I'm sure the house will sell quickly! Fingers crossed that you find the perfect house soon Sharon ! I had good news today ... Job 2 is very short on classrooms, so I'll be online the next two Wednesdays! I know it's not ideal for the students, but they don't seem to care, and it makes my life/semester easier. They had originally scheduled my friend/colleague P to be online this week, but P has a toddler at home, so P asked if I could be online instead. Everybody's happy!

For anyone interested in sister weirdness, it's all going in What Are You Doing?
Toddler J is adorable but he still won't let us hold his. We can play with him, but no touching. Hopefully that changes soon.

Well. Let’s see just how absurd i am right now. I’d marked down that I have class on Wed and Thursday this term. Fall term starts today. Turns out I had class today. Which means I missed class today.

Ouch, sorry, Knee Deep in Water Chloe. DH is taking course towards a graduate degree at the University of Glasgow. The first 2 weeks of the summer term he missed because he had the wrong day. He thought it was a technical problem, that he couldn't connect.

I know the inspection is a pain but I lived in two different complexes in the Boulder area before returning to Iowa. At the first one, they discovered an apartment had been used for a marijuana grow. All the humidity they had pumped in had caused mold. They had to totally redo the apartment which took a few months because of mold remediation. That was just in my building.
In the 2nd one, the apartment above me looked like hoarder central. I was in it once while the people were living in it. There were dirty diapers all over the place and it reeked. They also let the dogs do their business in the apartment. The guy wanted to show me something in one of the bedrooms. I declined because of the filth. They eventually got evicted for non payment of rent, but that was a total gut job, too.
Even with my clutter, I've never had a place that looked that bad.

Hello from Cabo! My conference kicks off today but I thought I’d stop in to say hi 😃
So fad things have been lovely, I have a slight sore throat that I’m solving with cough drops, loads of water and hot tea. If I can breathe easily enough then I can’t go snorkeling and I brought my snorkel gear (because ewww to using one dozens of other people had their mouths on in a pandemic). Over the weekend I went to some art galleries here and my favorite farm to table restaurant located AT the farm and relaxed.

I did a bit of filing last night. Chloe my DS wants his bed frame, but he needs to paint his bedroom first. He is not experienced at painting, but he tackled it b/c his Dad was taking too long to get to it. Now DH is bitching that he did it wrong and he is not going to help him. I told DH to go help him. Unfortunately I gave him contradictory orders, b/c I told him it was last day our was open on Tuesday Eve, and I told him to help DS. Mattress, IDK. Cabinets could go to the garage at the office, but then DH will probably have to get rid of some junk he has accumulated there. I think DH should just buy a F'in desk but what do I know.
DH's brother is also back in the hospital (intensive care) and DH holds the Health Care Power of Attorney. He said they have wires connected to his brother's head - don't know why but BIL was talking coherently to DH.
I told my DD that I should tell her Dad that he had to pull his Mustang out of the garage so I could park my car in the garage. She said "Good Luck with That" LOL.

I've known several people who received 3 day notices, to get their place cleaned up, or get evicted, when they were inspected. I can't even imagine being that filthy. Especially when you know there's going to be an inspection. I did get tears in my eyes once, when they arrived before I was 100% ready. (I hadn't showered, but was dressed. My apt was clean.) I need to go put my Halloween decorations out, so they're not in my living room. Then I will do some laundry. And I have a few people coming by to pick up things I'm donating. I have a lot to do still.

Ouch Knee Deep in Water Chloe I’m sorry! I’m SURE that sort of thing doesn’t happen to you very often, IF at all … so please go easy on yourself. (My take on this is that you are indeed doing too much.) Enjoy your trip startsmart ! You deserve both the speaking gig and the break! I’m sure the inspection will go well but I’m sorry you’re so stressed toomuchreality . DS1 (who lives in London but works in Paris, generally remotely) is here for a few days. He's spending tonight here. (When he comes, he usually spends a night here and a night with DS2 who lives in town.) This week - pharmacy/Wed - doc appt/Wed - lines (ongoing) - DH's Quickbooks (won't get done this week)

To be honest, I'm not REALLY worried about not passing the inspection. I just don't want to be embarrassed by not having my place clean, like I think it should be. I don't want to be one of the people that they talk about, because my place wasn't clean, when I knew there was going to be an inspection.
Hahaha... As I've been cleaning, I've come across a few boxes/containers with stuff in them, I'd stashed for a previous inspection and forgotten about. I always have a few random items, I don't know what to do with. Then I can't find them later.
Time to get back to my cleaning.
Have a good evening, everyone!
