I think I'm in my seasonal declutter mode because I missed when the seasons changed enough that dry air screwed up my sinuses. I realized after I couldn't get into the clinic tonight (closed), I have been struggling for at least three weeks with the sleep and sinuses.

I don’t appreciate you calling my sister selfish Opti. She’s anything but.
We concluded it’s the difference between your daughter giving birth, and your daughter-in-law. My sister has 2 daughters, and both asked my sister (their mom) to stay and help.

debthaven I'm glad to hear that your DH's case has finally settled, what a long ordeal that has been. Today I decluttered my extra hinges. They took forever to find a new home but they are finally gone. I was almost to the point of donating them just to get them out of the garage.

startsmart -- Check your PM debthaven -- Check your PM Good morning all. Checking in between chores. Laundry is almost ready to be tossed into the dryer so this will be a quick update. I think that we will be getting some of the storm later today but since it will be a smallish one it should be ok. I moved most of the plants that were elevated on plant stands to lower levels and placed the stands flat on the patio with the plants between the shelves. This will keep the plants from flying around if we get strong winds as well as the stands won't be able to move much either. I don't think that we will have those winds but I didn't want to take the chance. A thunderstorm last week knocked over one of the stands and it wasn't predicted. Seems that the areas to the east of us will feel more of the effects but we will still get some. I made it to the grocery and filled up the car with gas earlier this week. Had an outdoor gathering yesterday and several of us (all vaccinated) went out to lunch afterwards. Almost felt normal. Need to check on the laundry. See you later.

Debthaven, you absolutely made the right choice. Your sister sounds a little selfish. I hope its the pandemic talking. Of course you want to see the new baby, but it should not be at the expense of stressing the new Mom, child, and household. Sheesh. I've seen people send residents pics of GKs on a regular basis. There are ways to keep up even if you can't meet when you want to. You did good. Nope, I did choose my words carefully and you chose to read it different. I did not call her selfish, which be if I posted 'your selfish sister'. I don't know, so I said it sounds like her behavior is selfish. Do you get the difference, or are you on the conservative spectrum and don't understand the difference? Or believe it?

"I said it sounds like her behavior is selfish."
No you didn't Opti. You said "Your sister sounds a little selfish." It's right there in black and white and bold, so own it. You didn't call her behavior "a little selfish", you called her "a little selfish".
I don't want to discuss this any further with you. I try not to engage with you. This is nothing new, apparently many of us on these boards seem to consistently "get it wrong". I guess we're all lacking your stellar writing and reading comprehension skills.

Chipping away at the to do list and I put in an online order for Home Depot mostly so I don't have to find and move the heavy items myself. I've got cement stepping stones and 20+ bags of sand and gravel for the yard so I definitely need someone to load those for me.
I am still moving dirt from the giant mound in my driveway to the raised garden boxes. I have 2 more raised beds to assemble and fit in the backyard this weekend and the more more more dirt to move. I plan to mow if it's cool enough out there.
I'm very thankful that I got my laundry done this week and have enough groceries for the next week or so. The less I have to go out in this terrible heat, the better!

I feel the need to clarify this ... we technically could have gone for 48 or 72h as DS1 suggested. But we would literally not be allowed out of the house if we said we were quarantining there. Not even for groceries, or to walk a pet! NHS volunteers/employees do that if you're quarantining. DH and I we felt that given that DS1 and DDIL have a newborn and a 3YO, if we can't take E to the playground, or to/from daycare, or run an errand for them, ie make their lives EASIER in even small ways, it was better not to go. I told my sister that, she was shocked. She said we should have gone to see the new baby even if we just stayed without leaving their house for 48-72h. Also, we could not have visited DS3 or seen his apartment (although DS3 would have been welcome to visit). We also couldn't see DH's family that we haven't seen in 2 years. I was VERY upset by my sister's reaction. DH and I both agreed that if we couldn't help with E and/or errands, we'd just be a burden. We'd rather be ANYTHING but a burden, so we passed on going for 48-72h without literally being able to leave the house (and I mean literally, there's a £10,000 fine, X 2 people). Was my sister right?! I'm second-guessing myself now. NO, YOU ARE RIGHT! Not being able to meet baby right now is something you do for DS1 and his family. A family with a toddler and a newborn does not need any additional stress. Under the circumstances giving up this trip is a gift from you to them

My sister has 2 daughters, and both asked my sister (their mom) to stay and help. I don't appreciate you pretending I called your sister selfish simply because I suggested her behavior might appear selfish to myself, someone who can only go on with what YOU write here. I am very very angry abut that. Very.

Hi everyone - as we have intended from the beginning this is a thread where you can talk about many a things surrounding life and organization. It’s what I love most about this thread.
That said, remember the guidelines in the first post if you’re going to participate here:
5. Remember when giving advice that we rarely know the whole story and this is not a place of judgment. Try not to take offense when others make suggestions to you and use the private message feature if you'd like something to remain private. You may always edit or delete a post but doing so will not remove quotes from other posters.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and feelings but nothing is going to get resolved on a message board with days between posts.
Can we stop this disagreement right here?
In the future if anyone has disagreements with another poster it’s perfectly acceptable not to reply.

I got the base for my umbrella in and set that up so I have shade in the pool! Also cut the pool noodles so they fit around the edge to protect the metal from heating up in the sun. I’ve started mowing and string trimming the backyard too.
Very close to having the third raised bed completely filled with dirt and I planted the mint and tomatoes in one box.
Waiting for it to cool off tonight so I can cut lumber and assemble 2 more boxes. Then I need to do some clean up on the patio.
Patio list: Clear off, power wash and string trim edges Put down outdoor rug Arrange two seating benches Set up metal shelf on 2x4 base Move planters to shade Set up fire pit Put table and chairs in place Set up black chair cover

I broke down boxes to go out for recycling Tuesday morning.
I was off a week, but I am so looking forward to the organizer coming for 3 hours on Thursday and the cleaners on Friday. I can't remember if I told you, but last month I was out of town when the cleaners were to come. I didn't leave both locks to the front door unlocked--only one, so they couldn't get in. So it got skipped.
I went and got Maddow early this afternoon to hold him. Spent at least an hour brushing him. Then he slept in my lap until I absolutely had to pee. Now he's sleeping in my mom's chair and Amelia is sleeping on the cat tree.

This morning was yard work before it got too warm. The bushes that are in front along the deck have been cut back and all the suckers cut off and weeds pulled from underneath them. Once it started getting warm outside I headed in and got the bed changed, the bathrooms cleaned, the laundry is done and the dishwasher has been ran.

Hi everyone! Y'all are much more productive than me. We went to a BBQ yesterday for our friend's birthday. We're all vaccinated but we ate outside. DS2 came for Father's Day lunch (DD was at work). Caught up on dishes and laundry. I'm working four 12-hour days this week. Not looking forward to waking up at 6 am. Plus I need to "dress up", which I don't enjoy. (Hence the sports bras LOL.) I only have 1 professor class this week. The 2 others kindly offered to skip this week. I accepted.

I think I've almost decompressed from the craziness of the last three months. Today, I will finish setting up summer school, and then i basically get to turn that over to a junior administrator. I'm going to map out some plans for the week. DH and I are going to the school year concluding conference on Tuesday. It's a six-hour drive away, and it's Wed - Fri.
Big projects for the remainder of this month and the month of July include:
- DD #1's wedding that takes place at our house
- Taking care of Miss Grandbaby for a total of 18 days (her daycare closed, and her next one doesn't let her in until Sept 1)
- Prepping for next school year (for work)
- A three-credit class for my current college program
- Summer puring

I finally got my new stationary bike assembled and it was a beast of a task! Now comes cleaning up and recycling all the packing materials.
I’ve almost finished clearing out the living and dining space so I can clean the floors. Every time I do yoga I’m disgusted with how bad it is and I also have spilled a few drinks which makes it sticky.
Outdoors the mowing is almost done, I moved the hostas to the shade and I also moved my little metal storage cabinet and refilled the bird feeders.
Little by little things are getting done!

Well, I got most of the trim sanded for the first layer...to remove whatever wood stain was on it. Got all the trim taped off. I also took the window out and cleaned the outside of it. I'm a bit beat but I still need to clean the cat domain. Ugh! I think I'll save the actual painting until next weekend. We'll see how motivated I still am after I clean the cat domain.

Welcome back, Knee Deep in Water Chloe. debthaven -- I am sure that you are a little relieved that those two professor lessons were postponed this week. It will free up a little more time for all the other things on your plate. startsmart -- you are continuing making progress on your home. A little at a time will get things done. Did you get a chance to see the PM I sent you? nidena -- I see that you are beginning to take the beginning steps in your home improvement journey. Every little step helps. TheOtherMe -- glad to read that the newest members of your family are adjusting well. Your geneology classes sound interesting. I managed to get one load of laundry done today and ran the dishwasher. Moved most of the plants back toward the edges of the patio but did not replace the tall plant stands at this time. Several thunderstorms in the past few weeks have blown them over making a general mess and breaking or cracking the flower pots that were on them. That is about the extent of my accomplishments today. Did not sleep well last night so a short nap was taken. My area did ok with the latest tropicl storm but only about 40/50 miles east of me was one of the the areas that experienced major flooding. This busy week:Home Service Appointments -- Monday and Tuesday Car Insurance -- not sure which day Exercise class -- Wednesday Craft Retreat -- Thursday through Monday Zoom Meetings -- Wednesday and Sunday Grocery -- Perishables/Produce run -- and of course the usual household chores including laundry, cooking and cleaning. Will pop in when time permits. Til later.

Last load of laundry for the day is in the dryer.
Kitties spent much of the day on the cat tree, at the same time. I think Amelia thought it was hers as it was pretty obvious she did not like it when Maddow joined her. He held his ground and has spent the day there. I'd much rather he be there than sleeping in my bedroom.
They have both spent time on my lap today.
They are eating more so I think they are getting settled in.

Cats have now gone in to hiding due to lightning and thunder. That's not surprising and I just lost the signal on Dish.
We need rain so bad.

Busy day today. I had 5 straight hours of calls, two deliveries and one was off by 10 blocks, then I went to pickup items from the auction and they didn’t give me 2 boxes of stuff so I’m back tomorrow, paid my insurance, met with electricians and closed a new client. Whew. It’s exhausting for a Monday!
Now I need to go clean the pool, the kitchen and make dinner.
