Trumps new allegation- Babbitt was killed by the security chief of a top Democratic leader. Nope again, not that it matters to Trump. And if it were true, why would it matter? good point, bills. but more relevant is that I don't believe anyone in congress carries weapons other than security.

If it was, who cares. I thought republicans were all for stand your ground and protecting yourself. If you feel threatened, you are justified in shooting someone.
Oh that's right, it is only OK if it is a black person doing the threatening.

Every single individual in Congress that holds leadership positions, including the speaker of the House, House minority leader, Senate president pro tempore, Senate majority and minority leaders as well as the whips in those chambers, receives personal protection from the U.S. Capitol Police. link I think the idea is that it was one of these "personal protection" police who fired the shot.

interesting. I didn't know they had a personal security detail, but that makes sense.

Trump is trying not just to make the Jan insurrection a love fest with tourists and Babbitt the beloved Joan of Arc type martyr, he’s now going to try to paint the police and security folks as wicked Dem controlled agents targeting and shooting all the peaceful MAGA heads. Soon, he’ll be claiming the MAGA heads didn’t even want to come inside, but Pelosi and Schumer were luring them in with danish and hot coffee so the army of demons waiting in the halls could rush out and attack. He only gets worse with time. Yes he does and I think that is a good thing. He will not increase his base in doing so and will shed potential votes as individual after individual decide he has gone too far with each more extreme telling. I heard a talking head saying today that Trump does everything for attention, because he can’t stand not to be the center of everything. He isn’t in it to help Americans, or find world peace, he just wants to be the focus of every ones attention. Hopefully his fans figure that out and stop showing up at his rallies and buying his merch, until he’s one of those former celebrities on QVC bragging about how he was the best president ever and trying to sell collector plates or long ties or wine or whatever.

I wonder why. Maybe donald was the biggest liar of all his siblings when they were young.

"The book excerpt, published by CNN on Wednesday, quotes Trump during an Oval Office meeting about NATO and the US's relationship with Germany. "That b---- Merkel," he said to his advisors, the book says. The president went on to use a derogatory term for German soldiers in World War I and World War II, according to the book. "I know the f---ing krauts," Trump said, according to the book. "I was raised by the biggest kraut of them all," he added, pointing to a framed photograph of his father on the table, Fred Trump, the book says." Trump called German Chancellor Angela Merkel 'that b----' during an Oval Office meeting, book sayslink

His dad wanted his sons to be cut throat assholes just like him. The sad part is his oldest boy, Fred Jr, wasn’t like that at all, and both his dad and younger brother Donald bullied him relentlessly, to the point he became an alcoholic. Then when he died at a relatively young age, Trump cheated his niece and nephew out of their inheritance. It’s a fucked up family, and it would be sad in a Shakespearean tragedy way if he wasn’t burning down the country due to his daddy issues.

In the new book I Alone Can Fix It Trump says he never meant for the insurgents to go inside the capital, but they were welcomed inside by the capital police with kisses and hugs.
Sure.
He also randomly claims in the 2020 election that illegal immigrants and Indians were paid to vote in different places.
Native Americans? Indian Indians? Makes no sense either way. No one, not even illegals or any kind of Indian can just show up at random voting precincts and vote. But I guess claiming Scots and Italians are showing up illegally to vote just isn’t scary in Trumplandia.

This Republican wants an independent commission to study January 6. Who wants to tell him? Rep. James Comer has a brilliant idea of how to get to the bottom of what happened before, during and after the US Capitol riot on January 6 -- and how to prevent it from happening again.
"The best thing to do, in my opinion, is to have an independent commission that we know who's going to be on it," he told CNN's Pam Brown in an interview on Wednesday. "It doesn't need to be political people."
Really ... that is intriguing! It sounds a lot like the independent commission that Comer, a Kentucky House Republican, voted against in the House. ...
In fact, it's not a lot like that proposal. It is that proposal. Too funny.

New GOP twist - Pelosi caused the Jan 6 insurrection because she was made aware of possible problems and failed to act. And because Jim Jordan and Jim Banks were asking the ‘hard questions’ about who was really responsible for what happened, Pelosi kicked them off the bipartisan committee to investigate the January 6th incident.
Here is what I’ve learned over the years- if I’ve done something wrong and people are starting to poke around about it, I create a distraction by pulling the fire alarm.
The Trump part of the GOP is pulling the fire alarm.

The Trump part of the GOP is pulling the fire alarm. And because they are off the committee, they can continue to ask the "hard questions" in friendly environments instead of where they could be pushed to provide evidence. .

MAGA heads, egged on by Trump, keep pushing to find out the name of the cop that shot the criminal Ashli Babbitt because the names of police officers who kill black men in questionable circumstances get released.
A GOP senator from North Dakota got berated by a caller on a radio show who wanted the cops name released. Very pleased the senator (Kevin Cramer) defended the cop and said he hadn’t done anything wrong and his name would not be leaked.

it smelled like a coup. now it is starting to taste like one. Trump certainly was working a number of angles to make a coup happen. In addition, and largely because of those attempts failing, he instigated an insurrection on January 6th.
