Anybody ready to go yet? I’ve been looking at April cruises all day, everything is on sale. I’m really tempted...

my typical January trip has been postponed to November. I'm not sure how I'll feel about it by then, but April would still be a no for me.

My friend signed up for the trials so he's ready to go. He technically has a Jan one booked but those aren't going to go as paid ones.
We're booked for Feb but I'm pretty sure that's not going. Debating whether to pay final payment to get the discount on a future cruise they're offering.
Booked on a May cruise. I think it's likely to go, not necessarily 100% on going and booked with where I can get a credit.
One line is offering a bonus on their loyalty points if you book by the end of the year and if I book another 5+ day cruise and my May one goes I'll be high enough to on the loyalty tier to get a lot of free stuff.

I'm booked for June. We'll see if it doesn't get canceled.

I’m leaning towards a 7-day Celebrity cruise with free premium drinks. Never been on Celebrity before. Anyone here have an opinion of their ships? We’ve also used Royal Caribbean.

I haven't been on any. Their two newest ships - edge and whatever the brand new one is - look pretty cool. On my list assuming I can find a decent price. Haven't heard anything particularly bad about them, they're a little older clientele from what I hear because they're often a bit more expensive. They're targeting gen x now though. I think the main difference is it doesn't have all the crazy stuff the royal ships do. Also heard their suites are pretty nice too. BTW if you have a decent status with royal it ports or whatever you want to call it moves to celebrity.

We have a 37 day cruise planned for Nov. 2021. This is one we had rescheduled from last month.
Our March 2021 river cruise has been rescheduled May 2022.
Dec. 2022, we put a deposit down for a world cruise.

I can’t believe TD gave me the go ahead about the WC. This has been on my bucket list awhile.

I'm hoping I can make a world cruise my retirement celebration. Not sure though since if I'm not with someone that solo supplement would be a kick in the teeth unless they have a good deal.

Certain cruise lines have better deals on single supplements than others. I am not sure I’d like traveling with someone who wasn’t on my wavelength for this long a time and this closely. On our South American cruise, a woman we played bridge with had a roommate who was useless. She never wanted to do anything, so we wound up inviting her along with us to events we went to.

I love this idea, world cruse to celebrate retirement. I can't retire until I'm 70 and probably will go until I'm 75 but this would be a great way to celebrate it. Start saving now for it. I just noticed, it's 1,000th post. Only took me 8 1/2 years to get there. lol

How long is the world cruise? Where will you go? How much does it cost?

How long is the world cruise? Where will you go? How much does it cost? If mich is looking at the ones that fully circumnavigate the globe it's around 6 months. Some are a little less but they do that with fewer stops. When I was playing around over a year ago I think the cheapest was around $20k person double occupancy.

A Caribbean cruise doesn't appeal to me Take me to Alaska I'm just the opposite. If I'm on a cruise I want to hang out at the pool in the warm sun, reading a good book. But to each their own preferences. I know my parents, sister-in-law and brother loved their Alaskan cruise. They did the extended trip where they went up to Denali by train for a few days and were lucky enough that it cleared off a couple of times so they could see the mountain.

But you're like never in your cabin. Hell even on my Alaska trip I was barely in it. Sleep, shower, change - that's all you need it for. I've been in a balcony a few times because it was a good deal (sometimes cheaper than inside) and I didn't spend that much more time in my room.
I lucked into an aft balcony and I stayed on that a bit more because I talked my stew into bringing a lounger - but the chairs just aren't that comfy to want to spend hours on. Also I think aft balconies have a bit of a wider view.
On the Alaska cruise I spent most of my time in the observation lounge that was nothing but two stories of windows in a comfy chaise lounge.
How much time do you spend in your hotel room when you're on vacation?

I agree, the inside cabin rooms are just a place where you keep your clothes, shower and sleep. Plenty of things to enjoy throughout the ship. I love the variety of offerings, even got to play basketball every day (I was an active player at the time, 6'4, played every week until I hit 50) .
Went on a cruise with 5 friends and we combined the costs getting 3 rooms. 2 inside cabins and 1 aft corner room with a balcony and a nice sitting space so we would gather there for our group time.
Another time, a priest friend and I ended up being Catholic chaplains for the 11 day cruise that included going into the eastern locks of the Panama canal. Presided at the two Sunday Masses during the cruise. The second one was wild as the waters were rough. During distribution of communion, I had to lean hard against a wall to steady myself so I wouldn't fall over. lol

I'm booked for Belize and Guatemala in October of this year so I have hope. This is UnCruise, sips under 100 passengers and it will be my 5th trip with them. I'm in the 65+ group for vaccines, theoretically I can get vaccinated now except of course none to be had anywhere. I'm hoping I can get them in time for my E. European trip in late June. Today I started looking at 2022. My March, 2020 trip to South America was rudely interrupted by COVID and I missed the part that was supposed to include the Galapagos. Today I contacted UnCruise because I wanted to book their Galapagos cruise with the offer of the waived Single Supplement if booked before 2/28. It doesn't apply to the Galapagos itinerary. They were far more expensive than Overseas Adventure Travel, the company I took last year, so I got on OAT's site. SCORE! Only two itineraries left in May with single room on the boat (no single supplement) and I still have some credit from last years trip that will cover half of it. That's May, 2022. I SHOULD be vaccinated by then.

I *should be* on a boat right now. sail away would have been yesterday. the management company has been amazing, as always, and and has set up a "virtual vacation" where they broadcast music, interviews, cruise games on their FB page. live on a schedule they gave us, but also available to replay later if you can't break from work. I very much appreciate the thought and effort that has gone into this, and I'm not alone.

I feel you chiver78 I should be leaving Friday to go on a cruise out of NOLA on Sunday, but that's not happening. I also just spend 5 days fighting with Royal Caribbean because they kept saying my May 3rd cruise wasn't eligible for their lift & shift program. Except my friend who booked the exact same thing as me in his own cabin got it and they kept saying I wasn't eligible and kept giving me reasons that weren't true! But finally I got someone who didn't just say "sorry" and I now have a cruise in April 2022!!!! And it's on their newest ship (that's not even in service yet!) AND because of the program I got it like $1300+ off list price!!! I'm so excited after being so angry and upset. So now I currently have 3 cruises booked in 2022 - the 6 day above in April, a 7 day in Feb, and a 9 or something day one out of Rome! So come on vaccine!!!

I was pricing one to Antarctica for the hell of it. It was an adventures by Disney in December 2021, $14,000/person. Not happening but a girl can dream.

I've seen Antarctica for less than that. But they were also more explorer aimed and not the spa is on deck 5 with a luau on the lido deck. How is Disney doing it? I'm pretty sure they don't have a ship that can actually go that close to Antarctica.

It's a partnership with Ponant, a French luxury cruise line. All of their tours are expensive because they are luxury tours. And it's only 4 days out of 12 in Antarctica. They sent me the email, I had to check it out.
