commentator, yes, some do. in fact, though i didn't realize until today, one of the preloaded ones on here is one of the very worst offenders.
i had had one person blame it on me for having it available on here, and i didn't know what he meant until i found it in the drop down list.. it was not one that i *personally* put on there. i don't know if it is a 'stock' choice from proboards or if it got added in some other way. i am working on getting it out of there though..

moon- Thank you for bringing this up. I am not epileptic, but have gotten terribly ill around flashing light patterns before. Like the strobes used at concerts. I know a school that makes all of the children with nut allergies sit by themselves at lunch. My niece hated that school.

My avatar is now an x. That's okay as I am looking for a new smiley. I know the avatar with the flashing white lights. I think those flashing lights in some places can create a problem even if you don't have one.

I want my pink smoke lips avatar back, lost it in the April Fool's Day prank. But can't find it and can't get any others to stick for some reason.....

Moonbeam! I did not "blame it on you", I was just saying, it was there, and it is your board, so let's blame Virgil. It is always his fault, imho. Evidently you do not understand my sense of humor, yet. It was on the list, though. I had expressed my lack of enthusiasim for avatars a few months ago on the general board somewhere. It was April's Fools Day, when I felt left out of the joke by you and Virgil, because I did not have one, so I picked the flashing, moving "whatever it is"light. I also thought it kind of tied in with my quote of "born to be free" as I took it as sort of the Big Bang Theory, or the instant of "conception" of being born, and I like the idea we were all born free, here in the USA. Since I hid the Avatars a few days after the joke, I did not think much of it, as I do not see them. Until your general request was posted and I went to my profile, I never realized the complaints were about me and one or two others. And I will betcha a donut, not many people get my "Republican Glory" has nothing to do with being a Republican, either, (which probably drives a few Democrats crazy, I hope) and has to do with the USA and it's glorious Republic, for Which it stands. Now where is my flag draped smiley icon? ;D

For those who have sensitivities even driving under an elevated line or walking down a steel escalator while looking down can cause problems. Migraine and epileptic triggers tend to be the same, so what triggers headaches in some, triggers worse in others. Well if you are a Mountain Dew drinker, I think that might be the big contributer to your headaches. Too much sugar and caffeine is not a good thing. I tried Mountain Dew once at a friends house and just from one glass of that drink gave me severe headaches. There are certain things in some foods we eat and drink that can cause some of these problems for people.

My avatar is now an x. That's okay as I am looking for a new smiley. I know the avatar with the flashing white lights. I think those flashing lights in some places can create a problem even if you don't have one. You can go to your profile and refresh the avatar pic to bring it back up. Click o your profile, then modify, then scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click the modify button on the left side of the screen. If that doesn't work, then the link to the pic you posted may be broken or corrupt.

thanks mmhmm....that is the right one, but I can't get it to stick when I try to modify my profile. If it won't come back, then I'll live with it. But did just want to mention it once here and not whine all over the boards like the karma won't stick police do.

Steff (and others who can't get their avatar to change), when I changed my avatar, it didn't work the first time either. Then I realized that at the very top of that screen, where you can change your password, it had something entered in the "new password" field, but not in the "confirm password" field, so they didn't match--so changes to my profile, including the new avatar, didn't go through. I wasn't trying to change my password, so I just cleared out the first blank, re-entered the address for the avatar I wanted, and then it saved fine. I don't know if that's what your issue is, or if what I said even makes sense, but I thought I'd throw it out there. Good luck!

The first week we were on here and everyone was so excited to have all the additional features so everyone had a flashing avatar and a scrolling tag-line, I got a migraine. I turned off avatars for a while, but I've turned them back on. There are a couple that I can't look at because they make my eyeballs hurt (which is where my migraines start.) They are:
The snoopy/red baron one The really gross one where the cartoon bangs his head so hard on the computer that blood splatters everywhere And the blinking eye
I don't read anything those posters write because I can't look at the screen. Sometimes I will put my hand over the avatar, but usually I just scroll past it.
Trix - what is yours? It looks like a waxed vulva with a playboy bunny charm in it.

Just the ones wearing trench-coats. LOL! I noticed some people are changing their avatars to emoticons... since I have not found a proper Bear (I was looking for a teddy bear- preferably in fireman's gear as an homage to a late friend- but a teddy bear)- how do you do that??

Yes thanks but actually anything that moves for me gives me dizziness and vertigo. I try to scroll past really fast, but that makes me dizzy too.

If my kneading kitten is bothering anyone, please let me know. I did look at rate and type of movement, as well as contrast, before posting it, but I'm not averse to changing it if it's causing anyone a problem!
