Wish they would have had better video of the incident and the perp who ran away. No way in that video to even know the race let alone group they are from from the snippet of after the swing happened.

No, the person who swung the bat or whatever to knock the cop down. On a second replay I noticed lots of white people protesters some who seemed to be cheering that stupidity. My guess is video poster ignored that. I would have like to see whether any of the other cops arrested the person. Personally I think patrolling on bike during that mess was a risky choice. Easy target and some protesters didn't want to play well with others by blocking off that one street.

Well at least Seattle achieved the 10% defunding they were going for. Prioritizing calls will be dicey but when there's a reduction in force it's bound to happen.
Still wondering if Seattle is safe. Maybe I'll just go to Hawaii

Maybe I'll just go to Hawaii That's not what defunding means. It means allocating money for non-violent crisis intervention and mental health services. That means fewer shootings of civilians. |

Maybe I'll just go to Hawaii I hate the use of defunding just like I dislike pro-life. Both are inaccurate and make you believe things that aren't true. I don't know what it should be called, but re-organizing policing and changing procedures for 911 calls, well visits, etc. really are part of the process. Yes police forces will reduce, but perhaps some might be willing to train for well visits and other calls that aren't that appropriate for police all the time. For now I'm going to call it re-organizing policing. |

Removing 10% of the funds allocated to a department is defunding. And who cares what the ethnicity of the man weilding the bat is, this isn't about race. Or shouldn't be.

Still safe. My DS1 and DD2 both live in seattle. One is openly gay, one is black. They love the acceptance in seattle. Very rarely does anyone disparage them in that city. Its a very open and accepting place. Unless you aren't an open and accepting person and give crap to others, then they will eat you alive.
