I found out how expensive this could be when DH died. I wasn't willing to spend a fortune when it would be merely a listing of relatives. So I went with a very basic version that cost about $100. Dad did that when Mom died and then wrote a more extensive one for the funeral home site, which was a service included in their price for cremation. I added DH's picture to the one on the funeral home site- heaven knows what the paper would have charged for that. I was mildly annoyed when the local freebie paper picked up DH's obituary and left out my note that he was "the best of traveling companions". It just seemed that they were beefing up their paper with my work although I'm sure they had an agreement with the Kansas City paper to use it. The freebie paper was a labor of love carried out by the owner who died of a heart attack while delivering it one day. It's not published anymore.
