My daughter's school starts the school year with a "Tunnel of Love" - which is far less weird and dirty than it sounds. The teachers and Juniors stand in two lines - kinda like cheerleaders do for a football team. Seniors run through. Everyone cheers. But this year - not happening.
The school is going to have all the parents make signs for their kid, and they are going to hang them, and the seniors will drive through.
I'd love to put something funny, but still sweet on my daughter's poster. Or at least unique. I have been thinking and searching the internet, and I've got nothing.
Any ideas?

Good question. It is a tradition to welcome the Seniors - maybe encourage them? I guess just for the school to tell the seniors they love them?
It is a very warm, loving school - priding itself on acceptance and whatever. Weird place, but good education and my daughter has amazing friends - so whatevs.

All I can say is that I would be a terrible parent for that school. Touchy feely stuff like this makes me very uncomfortable (engineering anyone?). I just don't get it. Sorry, I'm beyond no help!

Yes give a little more info on what types of signs, mood and tone... I am not sure, as they have never done signs before. Usually they just cheer and clap and "woo hoo" as the seniors jog through. (I think - it usually isn't a parent activity). There are a bunch of helicopter parents, so I am expecting lovely signs with lots of effort. Mine will probably look janky no matter what I put, because I'm just not artistic. So, maybe a little something that will make her and maybe her friends giggle.

I am from a family of engineers. It has been an adjustment. The good news is that the school pushes personal responsibility for students as a top priority, and my kid is not one that needs a lot of help from me, so I only go to the mandatory stuff and the performances (which are awesome). I don't participate in the kum-ba-ya stuff, but my daughter is super bummed about her Senior year being stunted, so I want to be as supportive as possible. I already apologized for the future lameness of my sign.

If you and your daughter have a very funny-goofy relationship, maybe come up with a sign with a funny limerick on it.

I'm considering putting "I love you and I like you" because Parks and Rec is her favorite show. That is a romantic call back, but it applies.

I am also non-creative, and many times felt inadequate with things like this. Oh well, my kids turned out great. Worst thing was when school asked us to send in about 10 pictures of the student as they were growing up to put in a senior presentation. When I went to look for pictures of kid 2, I had a hard time finding pictures without the other kids. There were pics of kid 1, kids 1 and 2, kids 1,2 and 3, and even just kid 3. Kid 2 was just lost in the middle.

I'd be in so much trouble because my sign would read "Don't run through the Tunnel of Love if you don't have on your glove!" My kid would think it's hysterical. .. school not so much.

Love these ideas.
My husband wants to put "You are our favorite daughter" and then list her best friends (been a tight group for years) and say "You are still competing for 2nd".

thyme4change I think that's a cute idea. It may be too much to read on a drive through though.

Ugh. We are supposed to decorate the car too.

This was the part of teaching that I hated . . . stuff like door decorating. Supposedly, the kids did it, but I had seniors, most of whom went home before Advisory. So it was up to me to push the few remaining ones to at least help me with whatever idea I came up with it. I stole ideas off the internet the last few years. And my last teaching year, I simply asked if they were interested. It was a bunch of guys who said, "You can't make us." In prior years, I would have tried or simply done it myself. That last year I simply didn't. The world did not end!

How many kids in the class? Do you want cheap? Or do you want to win the parade?

If anyone asks you why the Christmas decorations are on your door in May, you tell them you are being proactive. Same response if someone asks you the same question in September. Win/Win.

Okay, probably stupid and outdated but here is my contribution. A picture of the Pink Ladies from the movie Grease when Rizzo says "we're gonna rule the school" with the faces replaced by your daughter and her BFF's.

We are not allowed to put their pictures on the posters. They will be hanging in a very busy, public place - so, no full names or pictures.

How many kids in the class? Do you want cheap? Or do you want to win the parade? I think they have 75 or 80 kids. I won't win the parade, but as long as my daughter knows she is loved I succeed. If others get a giggle - bonus points. My daughter said she is going with her friends, and I assumed she would drive, but she thinks her friend may drive - so maybe I'm off the hook for the car decor.

But, there will be signs on both sides of route through the school grounds, so it will be tunnel-ish. I think the parents are supposed to drive through with the kids, but my kid wants to do it with her friends. I'm not going to rob her of that.
