As I sat through a high school student's oral report, my body cringed every time he mentioned the Pot-a-mac River. When I lived in KY, I lived near a town named Versailles. However, it is not pronounced the the French chateau (Ver-si), but Ver-sails. That made me cringe each time I heard it too. Town in west Tennessee called Milan. Pronounced here as 'My-lan'. My favorite town name in Tennessee is called Bucksnort. Pronounced exactly as it is written.

Shortly after our wedding, first wife moved with me to the Naval Air Station in Meridian, Mississippi. It was there she went into the Social Security office to change her name on her account. She was asked where she had applied for the number and she answered Boise, Idaho. "Where?" Boise, Idaho. "Where? B o I s e, I d a h o. "Oh, you mean Bois, E-da-how."

It is difficult for me to imagine the level of stress that holding the office of President of the United States places on a human being. At least Biden has the close vicarious experience which will help but it still concerns me with him. I think Donald Trump walked in blind and has been overwhelmed by the task. Unfortunately, his personality won't allow him admit it (even if only to himself) and walk away after one term. Is it really stressful though if you don’t take the huge responsibilities of the position seriously and don’t give 2 shits about doing a good job? I am going to answer a qualified, "Yes". I don't think Donald J. Trump is psychologically able to grasp and take it "seriously" the way he should. I don't think he has a grasp on what doing the job "well" actually requires. I think there is a major disconnect between what he thinks he is doing and the reaction to what many see him as doing. And I think that is creating an underlying stress that is having a negative impact on him.

Every state has its share of difficult names. Usually they are of Native American or foreign origin. Another set is a different pronunciation of the same-spelled, more well-known name elsewhere. Nowhere, however, is one of America's most well-known parks, not to mention one of its favorite cartoon characters, pronounced Yo-Semite. The lack of intellectual breadth required to have never heard the name nor seen it in print before is stunning, if not worrisome. And given his history of stumbling over or mangling words in speeches, his advisers are at fault too. How do you let him not prepare ahead of time? This is not a gaffe, nor a momentary slip. Sit him down and READ THE DAMN SPEECH TO HIM so he learns what all the words are if you have to! They all know he is not very bright, yet they still let him go out and wing it. There is an old joke/insult, "You're not as stupid as you look!" With Trump, he IS as stupid as he looks, and is seemingly intent on proving it too. Unbelievable. Worse, there are STILL people who believe in this idiot. How stupid must they be?

And I think that is creating an underlying stress that is having a negative impact on him. For awhile early on I kept expecting something a bit more presidential. I knew I would never like him personally and, like so many before him, wasn’t going to like his policies. But instead of growing into the job and resembling an actual president, his con man narcissism was just too pathologically severe. That won and rules the day. Now it’s clown time like the axios interview. That was a complete embarrassment and revealed further breakdowns in his persona. If re-elected his head might just explode.

His advisors know he is going to mispronounce thing, and let it go, knowing his base will eat it up

We have a Doerun...pronounced...door-un. Or there is Jordan Rd...pronounced Jur-den. And if you want to find Houston co. down here, ask for House-ton co.

He missed one....Biden is personally going to perform abortions. "He's following the radical left agenda," Trump said at an Ohio event. "Take away your guns, destroy your Second Amendment, no religion, no anything. Hurt the Bible. Hurt God. He's against God. He's against guns. He's against energy, our kind of energy." www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/trump-biden-is-against-god-and-would-hurt-god

Listening to the president makes me feel worse than sad. Hearing him makes me feel hopeless. Me, too. He reminds me of all the "bad bosses" I've worked for or heard about. He reminds me of the "sucky" employer I worked for (and all the shit I took while I worked there - thinking things would get better because management kept saying there was a plan and things would get better - despite never revealing a plan (because the plan was crappy for all the workers)). He reminds me of the sucky employers that other people have complained about in specific terms and not due to the person's actions/behavior. Maybe my experience with employers and bosses is dramatically different from the majority of Americans? Or maybe people have NEVER had a good employer or boss and so think that the bad stuff is "just the way it is - and it should always stay that way!" ? Hence the hopelessness.

I notice at the end of the article Pence says something about the election is about a moral choice as to whether America stays America. He has that partially right. Its a patriotic election on whether America returns to its Constitutional roots and real law and order or whether we become a failed democracy and the first example of the fourth world. Trump is only good at breaking things. Why can't he just buy himself a country and leave us alone to heal the historic damage he has wrought. If we survive this, his Presidency will be a stain America will take decades to atone for much like Germany atoned for Hitler. God save the democracy because Trump and Pence are happy to trash it.

Private island. Only problem there is that being king has no real appeal if there are no commoners to steal from.
