The reasoning for the change makes sense. I would be interested in reading specific impacts of these changes. It appears that with closing some of the more outlaying polling places, the ones they are proposing be moved could be relocating to make them more central to the corners of the general area they would be serving.

Well, one rural one that will be closing has 2 small communities of blacks very close to it...one across the road from it and there is also a Hispanic group a couple miles down another road...it sits on a corner like mine does at present. Most of the rest that will be closing are rural ones...which will make it much harder for people of color who live outside the city limits to get to the new polling places. Mine is going from a stand alone building to a church location...about 5 miles down the road from us. It's on a less used area of our road & will be harder for several families in my are to get there...families of all colors in this case...but a lot easier for several wealthy whites to get to "their" church.
That's just 2 that I know about the areas around them. But I'm pretty sure that if someone wanted to dig deep enough, they would find many of the same under-lying conditions...and reasons for certain ones to be closed.

For states that don't want mail in ballots, let's put polling places in the 5 poorest congressional districts, and if you are from the local zip code, you go in one line, any other zip code, a different line.
Taste your own medicine, you pricks.

Since there is now questions about our USPS....I think DH & I will go do early voting at the court house annex. I just don't trust the mail here any more due to how long it's taking for items I've ordered to be delivered. I know when things are shipped since we get emails and I know about how long it has taken in the past. Even our UPS guy today said that he doesn't trust USPS any more either.
