There is 'normal' and then there is 'trump normal'. We know for a fact trump is not normal.

And in a similar evil vein: ..."I don't think there's anybody who can make an argument that this is especially risky for kids," DeSantis told reporters during a news conference at a Florida's Turnpike service plaza in Orlando. "For whatever reason, if you look at the H1N1 (virus), that was definitely more risky for kids."
DeSantis said parents should have the choice of being able to send their children back to the classroom if they're comfortable doing so.
"Just understand, the cost of not giving kids an option to be able to have in-person instruction is enormous," he added... Well, sure. Because the cost of losing their parent, grandparents, aunts and uncles when they bring the virus home is a lot cheaper, right?

I did appreciate Rukh's ABC news link. I think several states now get to go through the lesson of what happens when your Covid cases are too high for the medical resources you have.

maybe DeSantis needs to go to medical school. Then he may understand what an idiot he is.

And FWIW, his kids don't go to school yet. All too young. He says he'd send them to public school if they were old enough. Suuuuuuure you would.

Begs the question: WHAT is normal now? Whose normal? My normal, because I believe that covid is not a hoax to bring tRump down is to do what *I* think it best for me. That includes avoiding crowds, wearing a mask and keeping out of other people’s space. We are not as locked down as we were in April, but a far cry from where we were in Feb. I guess others are going to have to find their normal.

Begs the question: WHAT is normal now? I think it depends who you are. I think for Trump going back to normal simply means he can do his rallies and get his way at the convention. His bubble is stronger than it was as a rich private citizen. Now he has constant testing for the virus, better healthcare, security wherever he goes, and a political party that pretty much caters to his every whim. For us regular folk I think its more of what can we do with and without masks, and how safely.

Is that anything like Trump's "This virus will disappear by April?'

Saw a local dips hit on TV protesting the mayor's new rule that you can't be in any public places in the county without a facemark. Dip shit was bitching that since the mask protects him, if he choses to not wear a mask he can only hurt himself, not anyone else, so it's no business of anyone else if he wears a mask. We need some mean nuns or something to go around and slap these assholes on the knuckles with big rulers when they spout stupid shit. Beat science into them.

Begs the question: WHAT is normal now? Apparently, it's going to Walt Disney World during a pandemic. Apparently, Americans really are this stupid.

Part of the 'no one is going to tell me what to do' club sad there is a difference between telling people what to do, and advising them what not to do. it would be nice if we could properly frame the discussion.

I guess others are going to have to find their normal. My normal is similar. We still get take out, but not eat in. Our socialization is primarily Zoom. We did start camping with some friends, but all the socialization is outside around a fire. The only store I've been in is a grocery store (masked up, of course). I was horrified when a cousin in Harris County, TX (Houston is in Harris Co) posted from inside a bar - with live music - during a pandemic that is spread through the air. To keep myself from scolding her, I snoozed her for 30 days. The bars now, of course, are closed. Other cousins in TX and LA are posting photos of family gatherings; I miss my family too, but no gatherings.

I wonder how many more of these stories that we need to hear until people take this seriously? As of 2019 there are 400,000 deaths due to smoking related causes. Cigarettes are still legal to sell. We might have a way to go on covid 19 deaths.
