Pulse ox might be better than thermometer for asymptomatic. Actually, no. Hypoxemia occurs in people who are sick, does not happen in asymptotic people I’m so glad you are here.

Reopening here is called "Safer at home." That's why 700,000 people have visited the beaches in the last week and why they are holding mega high school graduation ceremonies! But life does have to go on. I accept that. I also accept responsibility for safeguarding my own health as much as possible. I did go to WM today but only to the garden center where very few people go. I decided that I wanted to grow tomatoes in my last remaining pot. I've had zero luck growing them the few times I've tried, but my peppers are doing beautifully. Let's be optimistic.

The province I am in has had a very good response to phase 1 of covid response. We are over the curve and on our way to slowly and methodically getting back to work and school over the coming month.

I am glad routine care is open. I called the dermatologist office today because I have a weird looking spot on my leg. I have very fair skin and have had several pre-cancer moles, etc removed. I was planning to have it looked at right before the stay home order was put into place.
I do wonder how many people will end up hurting their health due to fear of going to a doctor's office over the next several months. There are so many routine exams that are crucial to preventative care. I'm afraid people will skip out on mammograms, eye exams, physicals, etc because they are afraid of contracting COVID.
Telehealth will work for some stuff but not a lot of the routine screenings that people need to have done.

Although I wouldn't say I'm excited about it, I definitely need a dental exam and cleaning and am looking forward to being able to schedule them eventually. 18 months is too long.

My mammoslam was only 2 months late, but I did it earlier this week. I need an eye exam, but my last call has their office still closed. I also need a colonoscopy, but I need to contact my PCP about this because apparently the group that he referred me to will not give me prophylactic antibiotics during the procedure.

My county finally got approved to reopen as of today. I already have emails from the gym, 2 wineries and a local restaurant that they are open for business. They must have had their plans in place, just waiting for the go ahead

So, my county has had 21 new cases in the past 2 weeks, which is a third of all of our cases. We are staying at yellow. But I literally live on the edge of the county. A street over is the next county... which had its first few new cases since April this week... is going green. The county to the east of both of us has had 36 new cases in 2 weeks which is a 30% increase for them. Yeah, this is going to work out so well ...

I went to the hairdresser today. Everyone in the place was required to wear a mask. No waiting area, of course. I had to call from my car and they let me know when I could come in.
On the way to the salon I passed Lowe's and the parking lot was packed. Yeah, I'm fairly certain I'm more comfortable having my hair done than going to the grocery store, Lowe's or home depot.
On a different note, bars are allowed to open at 25% starting today. Seems like bars should be the very last thing to open in my opinion. Dang, i would have felt better about them opening the theme parks than the bars. At least the theme parks are outside and you can social distance the lines for the rides. Why the hell any states are opening bars right now is totally beyond me.

Port Townsend is trying an experiment. They are closing off portions of streets to vehicles, setting tables and chairs so that you can buy take out and have place to sit and eat. I’m thinking of inviting friends to join us -safe distancing, of course.
The doggie daycare is reopening on a limited schedule. I’ve signed Cass up.
Not going to the hairdresser anytime soon

Just read about the Great Clips hair dresser that exposed 91 people to covid 19. She had symptoms for 8 days between May 12- 20th and also went to Walmart, Dairy Queen, and the gym during that time.
This is our problem. Fortunately everyone was wearing masks but it will be interesting to see how far this spreads. Not the publicity hair dressers needed right now.

My church had a Zoom Happy Hour last night and we're leaning towards opening the building on May 31. I've been tracking numbers for the area and things are stable- increasing case numbers but one county where many of our members live is doing 400-500 tests a day so of course they'd increase. Percent positive tests is decreasing but that makes sense because they're likely extending tests to less vulnerable and less obvious cases. Church is huge, high ceilings, plenty of windows we can open for ventilation. No coffee hour, no wine at communion, social distancing in pews. We're also talking about having a gathering at our fire pit on the church grounds Friday evening- weather permitting, masks required, social distancing, BYOB and lawn chair.... but we WILL roast marshmallows. That will kill the viruses, right? I still haven't gone for a haircut. No rush.

I read about the opposite, a salon where a person who had symptoms for 8 days and was awaiting test results went in for a cut and then called two days later to say she had been positive.

The Arkansas stats are going up. Even the Governor a day or two ago said it was cause for concern.
Maybe he played his cards a little early. The Arkansas governor is a member of the church I attend, something tells me it won't cause a rumble, and I believe our senior Pastor will not jump ahead just because President Trump has mandated it to.

NY gov Cuomo allows gatherings of 10 or less for any reason. NJ now allows 25 but outdoors. NY state had fewer than 100 deaths

Nothing has changed with the virus; it's still very contagious.
The more things open the faster and larger the outbreaks.
The town my son moved here from had 8 new cases the other day, all from a church gathering on Mother's Day.
I think people's ideas of "essential" are going to get a lot of people killed, many of them the religious who can't/won't worship at home.

If they are hoping for an economic boom from opening up, my state will sorely disappoint them. Opened a few days ago, only slightly more people out

If they are hoping for an economic boom from opening up, my state will sorely disappoint them. Opened a few days ago, only slightly more people out My area is insane right now, but it's mostly travelers going through town to get to the desert to camp. Too bad many of them choose to stop here for gas, groceries, and souvenirs... As for churches, I saw some footage once when Italy started their outbreak that showed how when people sing their spit can go 20' and that's one of the biggest risks for those who attend. But, sure open up all the churches. Make people sick and create even more people who are asymptomatic. Fewer of the religious is perhaps part of the earth's plan on this one? Or, at least Trumps? We all know the last thing he believes in is a higher power than himself. Ultimately, he wants the churches open for votes. Wonder if he considered it will kill people off who might otherwise vote for him? www.livescience.com/covid-19-superspreader-singing.html

1/2 of my state is still supposedly shut down, yet traffic the couple times I was out the last couple of days, has been quite heavy.

Twitter bots Drove the Push to Reopen AmericaThis makes sense - there seems to be lots more "people" on Twitter pushing the reopen NOW message than polls suggest Americans actually believe. But why the push? I wish the article would have named names. I want to know who is a bot.

My church is opening Sunday and I'm scared. It's totally irrational. We have one of those sanctuaries that soars to great heights, large windows we can open and our average Sunday attendance is a pitifully small % of our capacity- I bet everyone could have a pew to themselves. Masks required, no shared communion wine, no singing, no Coffee Hour, no mingling before or after the service, no handshakes during the Peace.... I could go on. I'm probably safer there than in a grocery store. I could stay home and everyone would understand but I really feel this is a mental block than a genuine risk. If I stayed home for a couple of weeks I think the decision would be just as scary.
I'm glad things are re-opening but I can see it's going to be hard for me to feel safe for a very long time.

Our church is opening up too on Saturday/Sunday. Capacity is limited to 25%. Ushers are supposed to be "well trained." DH always ushers in May as part of his yearly rotation. I just checked with him..and he's not heard anything yet, about usher training. I'm not scared, but we've not heard anything about what a socially distanced mass will look like, especially for things like distribution of communion. Returning will likely be no.
With the kids' activities, the more teachers/leaders are upfront what they are actually doing to be safe and socially distance, the more I'm willing to trust. The girls went to private cheer/martial arts lessons last night. DD1 will start group cheer/tumbling classes in a week.
The places that are getting a hard "no" from me are the places that are saying "Sure, we're working on a plan.....trust us...." Call me cynical, but blind trust isn't exactly the best method for ensuring safety.

My MIL is scared to go to church. I told her TV church is fine. They are older, I don't think they need to be in the first group rushing out. Even the archbishop says the obligation to attend is still suspended and you are free to stay home if you are not comfortable.
