My state has only gotten enough vaccines to vaccinate 10% of the population. Almost all has been administered. Not sure if we will get any more anytime soon with Mumbles in the White House. Good for your state! We havent gotten that many but, given the shortages, our state is doing a good job and happy to get what we can while sharing with the rest of our nation. Staying masked, social distancing, and using the vaccines as they come.

I'm hoping that you were just unaware that Joe Biden has a stutter. I think that one of your children is on the autism spectrum so I'm assuming you wouldn't deliberately make fun of anybody that has a disability.

I have had to explain Joe Biden's stutter and how far he has come with it to so many of my family members. At least they don't talk about him any more about that part of him.
You can disagree with policy, but not a disability.

Biden administration announced a 23% increase in vaccine doses sent to state next week, and a 57% increases in doses since he has been president.
Your welcome.

He was able to string together a sentence back then. And frankly, considering all the name calling that has been directed towards anybody you disagree with, you’re in no position to lecture anybody.

He seemed to be fine on Inauguration day. You are deflecting. Stuttering will have times it is worse than others. Nice back peddling. If you did not like the namecalling before, then you are a hypocrite if you do it now. If we want things to improve, we need tocall out our own side.

And it is funny to say Biden cannot string 2 sentences together, unless you had the same complaint about trump. FYI, as a physician, there is nothing in my opinion about Biden’s speech pattern that is concerning. But you clearly know more than me.

I would never mock anyone's disability. I can truly say that I have no recollection of ever name-calling Trump on this board. I admit that I loathe the man but I've never made fun of his appearance, color, weight, etc. because those factors were irrelevant to either his competence or compassion. I have read plenty of comments along those lines on this board and they do/did make me uncomfortable. I also really dislike the way people talk about Melania Trump. That woman did not 'sign up' to be First Lady and I actually have a lot of compassion for her. I also wasn't being snarky toward you in my comment because I didn't know Joe Biden had a stutter until last year. You and I disagree on quite a few issues but I've also noticed common ground and you have repeatedly displayed compassion toward board members struggling during this pandemic.

name-calling of political figures is against our CoC here, formerroomate99, and has been for a long time. I'm not going to remove your post this time, as it's been quoted and re-quoted a number of times and I'm not awake yet. but knock it off. future issues will just be deleted. -chiver mod

Cool random science article about COVID. I am not advocating anyone go around without masks or not get vaccinated that may have been told they have Neanderthal DNA by 21 & Me. It's just one of those "life finds a way" things I find interesting to read about. People who survive a bout of Covid-19 with mild symptoms or even no symptoms may be able to thank their Neanderthal ancestors, a new study suggests.
Researchers found a genetic mutation that reduces the risk of severe Covid-19 infection by about 22%. It was found in all the samples they took of Neanderthal DNA, and in about 30% of samples from people of European and Asian origin.www.cnn.com/2021/02/16/health/neanderthal-gene-coronavirus-scn-wellness/index.html

Trump is repeatedly referred to on these board in derogatory terms like Cheeto-in-Chief or tRump not to mention Mitch McConnell being called The Turtle. I may think those things in private or joke amongst my politically aligned friends but on a message board my main objection to name-calling is simply that it stops constructive dialogue between posters.

Cheeto, Turtle, and similar posts are removed, when either they are reported or a mod notices. that's been the case for a long time, actually. there were some particularly obnoxious names used for Obama on P&M back in the old boys' days. tRump and POtuS were decided to not be no-no's, although at the moment I can't remember exactly why. and you're exactly right - name-calling just devolves further into unproductive dialogue.

We're back to setting up playdates for the kids. It is amazing to see the change after just a few hours with their friends.
We're talking school next year. Dd can't wait to go back. She needs more people in her life. Ds is going into middle school next year and is leaning towards continuing to homeschool but was intrigued when I told him they have a gaming club. Its tough when he can't go see the middle school.

I had wondered previously on this thread why Virginia, which has had about triple the cases that Maryland reported (with lower testing and much higher positivity rates), had so many fewer deaths. Turns out the answer is “reporting backlog”. Two weeks ago MD had about 500-600 more reported deaths than VA, today VA has nearly 700 more I feel dirty.

Iowa did the same thing. Sometimes for political reasons. The day after the Iowa legislature passed the bill the governor wanted that says all school must be in person there were suddenly >250 deaths when deaths reported that week had been 0-5 every day.

Abbott lifted all occupancy restrictions and mask mandates. Just in time for St. Patrick's Day and Spring Break. And, he hopes, just in time to save his rear politically. I think the citizens of Texas are totally screwed healthwise, and I can only hope the same for his political career. If I believed in a hellish afterlife, I would wish that too. You have no idea how angry, sick to my stomach, afraid and more emotions I don't have words for, I feel now. After so many months of caution, of evaluating and planning every action, it's come down to this. This will be the sword I die on, and I going to work hard to make sure my voice and my resources live on long after I'm gone.

Hang in there donethat, it does suck but don't give up. I'm hoping Biden is right about having enough vaccines to have all adults vaccinated by May.

We reopened the bars with capacity restrictions about two weeks ago. The number of new cases stopped declining almost instantly. New cases are now on the upswing. Hospitalizations are static and deaths are still trending downward.
I expect hospitalizations and deaths will start going up again soon. We haven't jabbed nearly enough people to keep that from happening.

I think they’re still working on the over 75s in my state The good news is that I talked to Dad’s aide yesterday and she mentioned he just got his second shot. Perfect timing since we are heading down to visit in a couple of weeks-not looking forward to 13 hours driving each way, but it’ll be awesome to get out of the house and see him. VA reported 383 new deaths today. They’re now about 1400 more than MD. I don’t think there’s anything nefarious about the delay in reporting necessarily but man those are ugly numbers.
