I still haven't cleaned out the veggie bed and trimmed back the mountain of lantana but this coming week will see it done, if nothing else happens like torrential rains.

Hey all,
I like to garden. I was even a member of a garden club for a few years.

I was out of town from Wednesday - Sunday evening. Here’s how the yellow begonia has gone. What’s funny is this orange-ish begonia is on the opposite side of the house and it’s an over achiever.

This is something I would not like to see in my garden. The gardener called the police.

I never even knew begonias came in these colors - they are absolutely gorgeous! And I love your junipers too!

10 Inexpensive Plants That Will Make Your Garden Pop.
Hey all I found this article and thought that the gardeners might find it interesting. Do you have a few of these plants in your garden? I have done cockscomb celosia and it's really pretty. I like castor bean but it's big for my relatively small yard; my neighbors have eradicated their plants because of the risk to their pets. Pampas grass is another one that needs a larger yard, but I've done a dwarf variety in the past and loved it. I'm in zone 9-1/2 to 10, aka hotter than hell with periods of drought accented by torrential downpours.

Also, have you ever had bird seed sprout plants? We’ve never had this happen before, and the only thing I can think of is that I hung up a bird feeder in this area for a few weeks. The leaves sprouting in the middle: This should only be bark mulch!

Gorgeous sunflowers chloe.
I think the snapdragons are done for. They don't like super hot apparently and it's been 90+ every day.
The vegetables are slowly coming along. The pansies look fantastic after a slow start.

Hey all I found this article and thought that the gardeners might find it interesting. Do you have a few of these plants in your garden? I have
--four types of lillies --clematis --Jerusalem artichoke --we actually bought and almost killed pampas grass. When we thought it was dead, DH threw it onto a vacant lot near us. It grew well there until someone bought the lot and bulldozed it. --two different colors of chrysanthemums

It's a lot of work to keep up with the landscaping/gardening, but we enjoy it.

The leaves sprouting in the middle: This should only be bark mulch! I have several southern wax myrtles in the back yard. While the seed was not in a bird feeder, I did have a bird eat a southern wax myrtle seed and do a flyover poop into one of my front yard garden beds. The seed decided to grow and I now have a full grown southern wax myrtle in the front garden bed which looks similar to this one except I do not trim it up to look like a small tree. I let it go natural and it's now about 12'x12'. Not bad for a free shrub.

A few years ago , another one started growing in the backyard, figured one of the many critters that visit our yard must have dropped a lemon . Bonus .

Ever plant one thing and over time end up with a completely different plant? Bought some day lillies from a nursery years ago. The plants were in the nursery's own plastic pots. Planted the lilies and they grew and flowered for a few years. Since then they have slowly morphed into ornamental micanthus grasses. There must have been some dried Miscanthus grass roots in the bottom of the reused plastic pots that slowly took on a life of their own. In truth I like the miscanthus grass better than the day lillies.

Also get corn sprouts under the bird feeder but DH weed whacks them.

Look how fun this is! We bought this one at the beginning Of spring. I think it starts with a B, but DH always throws out the tags. I was getting concerned because it wasn’t showing any stems, just the big leaves. I discovered these purple flowers this morning when I was watering. How odd is it they’re coming out the middle of the leaves! I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before.

I have one flower bed with clematis and they just overrun it. I have pruned back twice this summer, think I'm going to be very severe. There are roses out there too and a bit to much shade. I'm thinking of cleaning it out and just planting some of the shade varieties of plants I don't have to trim. I'm trying to make the lawn less work.
Was going to buy 3 new shrubs for the ones we pulled out, but hubs is on light duty for the cataract surgery this week so did not. I still need to weedeat behind the roses. He put a different head on the weedeater, I went to use it and was out of string. He couldn't fix it right now so will have to wait. Need for him to show me how to string it.
My veggie garden I'm sure has green beans to pick. But we got 3.65 inches of rain today. Also was going to freeze corn tomorrow but hubs said he bets they can't get in the field to pick in the morning, so that's out. The peck of peaches might be ripe enough to fix for the freezer tomorrow. Supposed to cool off here so might get a few things done out there if I can get the motivation.

Knocked out 1-1/2 hours of weeding and trimming, or perhaps it knocked me out. Right now is 84 degrees and 78% humidity for a feels-like of 95. Had a tad of cloud cover which really helped but I'm officially dead at this point. I hate gardening in a climate where you can tell if it's sweat or bladder leaks And the mosquitoes and ants got their bites in too.
