The prayer meeting kicked off the biggest cluster of COVID-19 in France - one of northern Europe’s hardest-hit countries - to date, local government said. Around 2,500 confirmed cases have been linked to it. Worshippers at the church have unwittingly taken the disease caused by the virus home to the West African state of Burkina Faso, to the Mediterranean island of Corsica, to Guyana in Latin America, to Switzerland, to a French nuclear power plant, and into the workshops of one of Europe’s biggest automakers.

Florida Megachurch Pastor Arrested After Flouting 'Safer-at-Home' Order With Crowded Services

(TAMPA, Fla.) — Florida officials have arrested the pastor of a megachurch after detectives say he held two Sunday services with hundreds of people and violated a safer-at-home order put in place to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

According to jail records, Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne turned himself in to authorities Monday afternoon in Hernando County, where he lives. He was charged with unlawful assembly and violation of a public health emergency order. Bail was set at $500, according to the jail’s website.

Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a news conference Monday that he negotiated with the attorney of Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne to turn himself in to authorities in Hernando County. His church is located in Tampa.

Chronister said his command staff met with The River at Tampa Bay Church leaders about the danger they are putting themselves — and their congregation — in by not maintaining appropriate social distancing, but Howard-Browne held the services. The Sheriff’s Office also placed a digital sign on the road near the church driveway that said, “practice social distancing.”

The South Koreans had this same kind of issue with a secretive Christian church whose members kept going out and proselytizing on the streets. One of them got the disease, spread it to a bunch of other members, and they managed to spread it all across the city, along with the Good Word.  The pastor ended up apologizing publicly. 

As a Christian myself, I figure loving my neighbors (by observing social distancing from them) earns me more brownie points that attending church. But that might be the rowdy Quaker genes talking.

VIRGINIA PASTOR DIES FROM CORONAVIRUS AFTER PREVIOUSLY SAYING 'MEDIA IS PUMPING OUT FEAR' ABOUT PANDEMIC

A Virginia man who downplayed the seriousness of the coronavirus as merely the media "pumping out fear" has died after contracting the virus.

Landon Spradlin, 66, a pastor and traveling musician, died on Wednesday, March 25, at a hospital in North Carolina after testing positive for COVID-19.

As first reported by Patch, nearly two weeks before his death Spradlin shared a meme on his Facebook page suggesting the media "can manipulate your life."

The post compared the "mass hysteria" surrounding the number of deaths from the coronavirus in the U.S. while Donald Trump has been president compared to the deaths from H1N1 under Barack Obama's administration.

In the comments section underneath the March 13 post, Spradlin wrote that while he knows COVID-19 is real, the "real issue" is "the media is pumping out fear and doing more harm than good.

"It will come and it will go," he added.

WTF? Why even have a shelter-in-place order? There's no point if you're going to keep churches, synagogues and other places of worship open.

The order, which you can read for yourself right here, also lists essential activities that are permitted during the 30-day period, and includes things like exercising, taking care of pets, assisting a loved one, and "religious services conducted in churches, synagogues and houses of worship."

My husband keeps reminding me that even the Pope cancelled Easter Services. The Catholic Church here in Wisconsin is not holding services, and thankfully, my Mom is abiding by the Shelter in Place order.

I also regard some of these Ministers holding services as con-artists passing the plate. 

On a related note, DH was sleeping in front of the TV the other day, and the dogs got me up to take them out. The TV Minister was talking about single Mom's giving that $1,000 to the church ...talking like it wasn't enough to make a big difference so you should just give it to the church and God would provide. I was thinking to my self yeah, $10 or $20 is what a "Single Mom" should be donating, not $1,000 - that's the rent $$.

Colorado AG steps in after Hobby Lobby defies COVID-19 stay-at-home order

The Colorado Attorney General's office sent a letter to Hobby Lobby's CEO, ordering the craft supplies company to shutter stores immediately after it continued operating despite being named a nonessential business during the novel coronavirus pandemic.

"For the avoidance of doubt, and as you have been previously notified, Hobby Lobby is not a 'critical business,'" the letter from attorney general Phil Weiser's office, obtained by ABC News, stated. "You are directed to immediately close all Hobby Lobby locations within the State of Colorado."

The letter added that the state's executive order mandating nonessential businesses shutter amid the COVID-19 outbreak will be enforced.

On Wednesday, several Hobby Lobby locations in Colorado remained opened. ABC News visited two locations outside Denver, where store managers said they had "no comment" when asked why they continued to operate despite being required to close.
