While cleaning the interior of my old Ford pickup, I used the windex with a soft cloth on some clear plastic on the dashboard. As it dried, the plastic was frosted. I rinsed with water and applied a plastic cleaner - no help.
I was going to try Armor-All next, hoping that plasticizers would help fill in the frosted surface and make it clear again. What do you think?

I avoid Armor-All, it contains silicone which rots many synthetics. Tap Plastics ( tapplastics.com/) carries ultra-fine buffing compounds that I have used with good results. It sounds like you may need to do a "peel" if the surface had a chemical reaction.

I've got a small Tap outlet not too far away. I'll go pump them for solutions before I do something that might make it worse.

Good luck, I'd be curious to know what works.

Most likely the clear plastic was acrylic, and Windex crazes acrylic. It normally isn't repairable, but you could try Novus #2 or Tend plastic refinsher, if you can find it.

"Wow!!! I didn't know we shouldn't be using Windex on acrylic. I'm sure I've done it, but won't anymore. Thanks!" My plastics-sales background is good for something!!! ;D
Acrylics are best cleaned with just warm soapy water (think Joy or Dawn) and a soft cloth. Rinse well.
