Well, he gave the nerdy medical types 15 days to fix this whole virus thing. Any more lollygagging and the mega corporations might lose some money.

If he actually demands they be lifted he should be immediately Article 25'd and removed from office. Or, those who don't remove him should be tried for murder.

There are enough people who still believe this is no big deal, and that the death count is acceptable, because other causes of death have higher numbers. They will cheer if he announces it's back to business as usual.

They also cheer when Gravedigger VII wins Sunday Monster Truck Madness and Florida Georgia Line releases their new single "I punched a hooker and all I got was this Confederate Flag T-shirt".

Our county of 20k people just had our first case. The biggest city is 4000 people, probably less now. and we have a 25 bed hospital. Since it was diagnosed at our tiny hospital it could have wiped out half the staff. They sure weren't dressed for it when I went in, so who knows. And they have not announced if people were exposed.
Since noone is staying in, not using masks or anything, it will likely run over all these trump supporters here quick. Guess we will find out.

There is a reality that recessions cost lives. Our insurance being tied to our jobs means that people lose funding and the ability to access healthcare if they lose a job.
Also, stress surrounding financial problems have physical consequences. And suicide rates usually increase during recession.
So, at some point the risk of Americans getting Covid vs the risk of Americans going through a massive recession would reach an equilibrium. Not entirely sure where that point is. And I don't trust a word that comes from Trump's mouth. But there is a point where we will have to leave our homes and get the economy going.

I'm sure someone pointed it out to him. Hope Dr Fauci is ready to retire as I imagine he will have to. Probably cut off like McCabe a day before he was to retire.

because that is what true leadership looks like:
fire someone competent anyone who disagrees with you, no matter how competent.

Just when you think they couldn't go any lower they decide to go with "it's in our best interest to let & encourage American's die en masse". It's mind blowing. Which Republican voter here is going to be willing to step up & put their money where their mouth is & offer up a family member as tribute? This is your president, your guy. So tell us all, in detail, how strongly you support this & who you are willing to have die to keep the machine running. Which one of your loved ones is expendable/collateral damage?

Remember how he said he could kill someone in a crowded street in new York and people would still vote for him. Seems a little too real now.

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) was just on Fox saying he agrees with Trump. He cast it as an opportunity for seniors to sacrifice in order to keep the country intact for their grandchildren. “Let's get back to living... And those of us that are 70+, we'll take care of ourselves. Step right up Republican voters over 70. Your country needs you to die already. The kool aid will be orange of course instead of grape, time to belly up to the bar!

Fauci has been around since I started in research in 1982. By then, he was almost at the top of his field. He has so many years in, even if Trump booted him to the curb, he wouldn’t be hurting. I pretty much guarantee that Fauci can write his ticket any place he wants to be, universities would salivate to get him there.

I think so too, but would be a shame to lose him where he is.
The good people trump has taken down. He is a waste of air and has destroyed so many wonderful, intelligent people.

According to Wikipedia he is 79 years old.
Maybe the guy just needs a day off.

I hate to break it to him, esp. since I'm not in Texas but my parents, ages 78 and 81, are not ready to die. Neither are their friends and the older family members I have left.
I admit, I've been expecting my rate of funerals to attend to ramp up the last 3 years or so and they keep surprising me (in a great way) and trucking on.

But if he can't hold his rallies or go play golf, what would he do? He needs the attention. Remember when he told the nation that Pence was in charge of the Covid-19 response?

Let's not give trump the attention he lives off and hopefully he goes away in November. .

I would be afraid to try. Fauci has shown that he is willing to hold the line. Would someone else? Would h3 be replaced with a flunkie, like a Trump does every time someone disagrees with him. Science does have those too. Trump has also shown he is perfectly capable of putting someone who knows squat in a position of authority.

What I don't get with this approach is doesn't the Republican party skew older than the Democratic party? Wouldn't there be a real risk that they are killing off their own faithful and they'd lose the power that they have used so many shenanigans to hang on to? Also, I do believe that the immigrant population (read those people of color) is on average younger than the Caucasian population. Younger people - less chance of dying - country will be taken over by immigrants. What am I missing here?
