Senate failed to pass the emergency bill to address Covid 19 crisis. Unfortunately after Dems and Republicans worked together to produce a bill to be voted on the Senate failed to pass. Appears Dems put in new funds for Solar energy and airline emissions . Called it bill to address Covid crisis and the ongoing climate crisis.
Stock market crashed down again but far worse the American people who are being laid off in droves need help and the health system needs funding NOW Enough with the climate that can come later

The senate just voted NO on the bill. It was live. Not quite, they couldn’t agree to move the bill to next phase - debate, then vote to pass or not ]Democrats would not vote to move bill to next phase DAMN

This is an ongoing problem with the government in general. Nobody votes on individual issues, they vote on bills that have a bunch of stuff that is beyond stupid to vote on together. Which is kind of funny, because generally speaking the country doesn't vote on measures that way. There aren't measures on the ballot that say "Vote for the Republican Presidential candidate and a new school gym".
Heck, we voted on a school bond measure a few weeks back...we had to vote on approving the bond measure itself separately from voting on whether property taxes could be raised in order to pay the bond we were voting for.

I thought the hangup was the "slush" fund, to be used at Mnuchin and Trump's discretion. Also, bailing out businesses that have not used prior bailout money as intended.

It is. nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/03/coronavirus-stimulus-slush-fund-trump-bailout-corporations-senate.htmlThere is nothing wrong in principle with bailing out large firms. The trouble with the Senate bill is the mechanism. Its requirements that bailed-out firms protect their workers are too weak. (Protecting the workers is the whole rationale for bailing them out, after all — at least from the Democrats’ point of view.) More disturbing, it’s designed as a pool of money to be doled out by the Treasury secretary. That is to say, the money is, for all intents and purposes, personally controlled by Donald Trump, who selected the Treasury secretary, Steve Mnuchin, and could replace him on a whim. One obvious outcome of this financing arrangement would be to create the all-but-certain outcome that the Treasury would select the Trump Organization as one of the worthy recipients of its largesse.

The hangup is a $500 billion 'slush fund' that trump could spend on anything he wanted with no oversight, including possible bailouts for his own hotels. Also, not enough for unemployed Americans.

Think most people and those in congress agree some companies will need money to survive and keep their employees, e.g. airlines Problem with calling this a slush fund would be an alternative that specifically names companies and gives money to only those companies. Can you imagine the amount of time needed for Congress to name only specific companies and specific amounts for these companies???
Not enough for workers??? Then put in some wording and $ for workers but to demand specific companies leads to more delays. To not include $ for companies leads to companies failing and massive layoffs

But to give workers pennies and big companies (who used that last bailout money to buyback shares) $$$ is not only wrong. It's stupid.

Have the Dems proposed any language???

What they're working on passing should only be aimed at helping smaller businesses and individuals who need it. No sketchy corporate bail outs and nothing added on to buy votes. We're 23T+ in debt they need to get their **** together but unfortunately the system and parties are broken. This was about the worst time for something like this to happen because both parties lack the ability to act like grown ups and do what's best for the country and its citizens over party.

Cruise companies are asking to be bailed out. But cruise companies are flagged outside the US in order to avoid paying taxes. Should THEY get bailed out?

I disagree about corp bail-outs. Help the people, they will spend the funds and help the corporations.
