I am. Not that bad of a speech; he has been following the teleprompter. Not happy with the reality show aspects of it (girl getting a scholarship to the school of her choice; Rush getting the medal and appearing shocked; the return of a soldier to his family; and Pelosi tearing up her copy of the speech).

Oh, and I doubt if Trump saw Pelosi extending her hand for him to shake.

Trump didn't shake Pelosi's hand after handing her the speech. It was more of a campaign speech then a state of the union. Full of lies and untruths that he is known for.

Nope. Didn't watch it. If he makes a promise, he'll change his mind a short time later, and claim he never made that promise. I've got better things to do...

... It was more of a campaign speech then a state of the union. Full of lies and untruths that he is known for. True. It's going to be an amazing if we get all that he promised tonight (more infrastructure, no cuts on social security or medicare, space force, having more troops return home, being the first country to go to Mars, ...). Guess my taxes will be going up.

I didn't watch it. I rarely do. I recall seeing each President do 1 in my adult life, and I remember hating them all. "And then there is Nancy Smith. She and her sob story will illustrate something and blah, blah, whatever." 🤮

Frankly, If I had been Trump, after everything that has been going on between Pelosi, the impeachment,
I would not have shook her hand either.

A piece of parenting advice that I think applies to things like the State of the Union Address as well: "Parents, don't worry that your kids never listen to a thing you say. Worry that they never miss a thing you do."

Fact-checking President Trump’s 2020 State of the Union addressPresident Trump’s State of the Union speech once again was chock-full of stretched facts and dubious figures. Many of these claims have been fact-checked repeatedly, yet the president persists in using them. Here, in the order in which he made them, are 31 statements by the president. As is our practice with live events, we do not award Pinocchio ratings, which are reserved for complete columns. “I am thrilled to report to you tonight that our economy is the best it has ever been.”
The president can certainly brag about the state of the economy, but he runs into trouble when he repeatedly makes a play for the history books. Our database of Trump claims shows he has made a variation of this claim some 260 times. There are several metrics one could look at, but the current economy falls short, according to experts we consulted. The unemployment rate reached a low of 3.5 percent under Trump, but it was as low as 2.5 percent in 1953. Trump has never achieved an annual growth rate above 3 percent, but in 1997, 1998 and 1999, the gross domestic product grew 4.5 percent, 4.5 percent and 4.7 percent, respectively. But even that period paled against the 1950s and 1960s. Growth between 1962 and 1966 ranged from 4.4 percent to 6.6 percent. In 1950 and 1951, it was 8.7 percent and 8 percent, respectively. Didn't watch him. It's gotten to where I can't stand his gestures and facial grimaces and his ponderous way of speaking, then turning like Mussolini to gaze of the GOPers applauding wildly.
Figured none of it would be true, anyway, and I was right. Plus I got to miss Trump trotting out a toddler to make a point about abortion - which he used to think was great, back before he decided to become a republican in order to sucker all the middle of the country rubes into voting for him.

I've been seeing different stories online that viewership of the SOTU was down, between 25% -27%. I guess I'm not the only one who didn't want to listen to him talk.
