Kennedy Center Awards last night

Did any one see the Kennedy Center awards last night. They honored O. Winfrey, Merle Haggard, Jerry Herman's{Hello Dolly and so much more}Bill Jones{Dance}and Paul McCartney[Do I have to say}//such a classy presentation and honor. President and wife were there and a who's who of what ever.. The ones receiving the awards don't perform but their works are by some of the best..very moving and always such a class act.
If you miss it but you see a repeat scheduled, suggest make time and room for..it's a once a year event and one of the best to be seen, even if some names are not familiar.
For me Haggard and McCartney were outstanding..especially the finale, "Hey Jude " with all, audience and Paul participating..
Class show all the way.

Is the Kennedy Center awards like the Hall of Fame, where you can't be admitted until your work is 25 years old - or was the whole thing just a shameless way to boost ratings amoung the ever so necessary 140 years old and up crowd?

Thyme , usually you don't get the award till you have a body of work that warrents it so if you have had a great hit tune or two, it just doesn't cut it.
A few of the folks I did not recognize but for example once I saw what Jerry Herman was responsible for in his life, besides "Hello Dolly" and all who performed his works, Carol Channing for one and yes , she is up there , but still can belt them out as she did , one can only say WOW.
You get the feeling that Herman is getting to the end of his time here, just a feeling, so the honor was so appropriate.
Same with Jones on his contributions to the dance...not his time here , still a fairly young man .not a house hold name , not a pop star, but another WOW and the rest..they honors were well deserved.

If you can get beyond the politics, the President and his Lady normally don't show up just for the heck of it..and the celebraties in the audience came in from all over the country and many from beyond our shores.

If you see it's advertised as a repeat , not interested so go to the wrestling if it's not your thing. Your loss.
Just a note here to see if anyone else had the pleasure and if not, to give a heads up in case they see it as a repeat.

I come to EE for entertainment. Far better than McCartney. However, one of the posters here is off-key (no names ).

Don't look at me on the bringing over old threads, there are none that remarkable to me to keep archived and on this new site . It's trailn0 and another who seem to be into that.
I am having fun moving around, you should try it. I have posted on a # of different areas so far.
Your not suggesting one needs a invitation to post here on EE are you?
Actually on the "Kennedy Center" thread, I felt this was the place for the thread, EE means "every thing else" doesn't it?

We were told to move over threads that we felt were of interest to here, as MSN boards will lockdown and close in January.
Several boards have done this. not a big deal.
Now if we could have left a few posters over there, that would have been okay too.
