He would probably have to say something negative about Trump/Republicans to engage the care factor.
Just possibly backing a candidate, boring.

What would be the most powerful way to use Obama to defeat Trump?
He might stay officially tight lipped, and after a nominee is chosen, campaign full force for that person.

Word is he is privately promoting Warren. Thoughts? Anyone have a guess as to why "word is"? My thought is it is an attempt to create dissention amongst D3mocrats.

Probably some African Muslim Anti-Christ, since Obama is apparently all three?

Obama may support cory booker? Booker seems to be way ahead of other candidates on Climate. That will be one of the most important issues. The other candidates talk about "we must do something - followed by speeches on carbon tax, clean energy goals by 2050 or 2075, laws that regulate fracking - plus many other do-nothing ideas". Booker doesn't get wrapped around the axle with semantics - Eg, 'renewable' vs 'workable'.
Solar provides only about 1% of our energy, ie, it is not moving the needle, 99% comes from elsewhere.. Other countries are building coal plants much faster than the US is converting coal to solar & wind, so world coal energy will increase for 50 more years even if the US quits using coal, ie, that's not an answer, not even close. A real answer is to replace coal power with nuclear power - and not just in the US, but worldwide. (the world atmosphere stirs/mixes within just a few months - it does almost no good to clean the air in the US while allowing the other 200 nations to burn oil/coal at an ever increasing rate). We must design reactors that are safe and viable and make them available thru-out the world.

I don't think it matters that much who Obama supports. I know the GOP likes to make Obama and Hillary these larger than life bogeymen pulling the strings behind the scenes but the Dems aren't like the GOP - there's no larger than life bully at the head of the party eager to shit talk any Dem who doesn't toady to them adequately.
Obama is focused on voting right right now. He'll hold back any comment until a clear nominee is determined, then he'll come out in full support of whoever get it, because like a lot of us, he'd rather elect any American rather than Trump.

He wanted to back me, but I politely and yet firmly told him I was NOT running. No, I would be very surprised if he backs Warren. I would "guess" his choices would be somewhere in the neighborhood of Deval Patrick, Biden, maybe Mayor Pete. I would also guess he will not bring his opinion into it publicly unless he sees an unelectable choice gain too much momentum. Deval Patrick- they are friends, and he likes and respects Patrick, and they agree on a lot of policy issues. Joe Biden- If it were not for his age, I think this would be a slam dunk. I think the age thing worries Obama. I think he would also fully back him. Mayor Pete- I think he aligns well with Obama's positions and style. I also guess maybe he may worry about the electability of Pete as a gay married man. I agree with Thyme- will likely quietly wait, and then work hard to defeat the current occupant. He won't waste is capital on Deval Patrick. At least not in 2020. At this point, it would be a pretty useless endorsement. Maybe 2024, when there is no incumbent.

There could easily be an incumbent in2024. I wouldn't say "easily". There is an equal chance that there will or won't be an incumbent in 2024. Actually, it probably isn't equal. Incumbents during good economies have an advantage. I'm not taking for granted that Trump will lose. Clearly there are people that want something different than I do, and the electoral college could easily fuck us again.

NO. I am officially taking the position of Tennesseer these days and telling you I will not do your homework for you. If his response is good enough to give to me it is good enough for eveyone else.

If his response is good enough to give to me it is good enough for eveyone else. It is total bullshit that Obama is backing Warren Sanders. There is nothing out there that supports either of your prior claims nor that he is supporting whomever you claim next.

No way would Obama come out in support of Bernie over the other contenders. Much as you'd like that. Publicly, he has been clear that he won’t intervene in the primary for or against a candidate, unless he believed there was some egregious attack. “I can't even imagine with this field how bad it would have to be for him to say something,” said a close adviser. Instead, he sees his role as providing guardrails to keep the process from getting too ugly and to unite the party when the nominee is clear. There is one potential exception: Back when Sanders seemed like more of a threat than he does now, Obama said privately that if Bernie were running away with the nomination, Obama would speak up to stop him. (Asked about that, a spokesperson for Obama pointed out that Obama recently said he would support and campaign for whoever the Democratic nominee is.) www.politico.com/news/magazine/2019/11/26/barack-obama-2020-democrats-candidates-biden-073025

Just read an article he is going to support Bernie just google Obama and who he will support in 2020......just about anyone other than Biden Our education system is a mess. Lesson 1) read whatever source you want. Don't worry about credibility Lesson 2) as you read it, pretend it says whatever you want it to say, and then declare it fact Lesson 3) if anyone contradicts you, get all emotional. You can also call them names.
