He dezii - Pepe's Pizzeria's clam pizza is the #1 ranked pizza in the country. This is the best pizza in AmericaPicture a pizza in your mind, and you’ll probably conjure an image of a thin, round pie topped with marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese and maybe some pepperoni. But even though that may be the most popular type of pizza, there are countless other styles and toppings out there — one of which is the best pizza in America. Every year, we set out to rank the 101 best pizzas in the country, with some help from a survey taken by chefs, restaurant critics, bloggers, writers and other pizza authorities. We’ve published this ranking since 2013, and nearly every year one pizza has risen to the top of the pack: the clam pie from the legendary Frank Pepe in New Haven, Connecticut, one of America's best cities for pizza. Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana opened in 1925, and there are now seven locations around Connecticut, one in Yonkers, New York, one in Rhode Island and one near Boston; all are operated by Pepe’s 10 great-grandchildren, and all use original recipes to make their pizza. New Haven-style pizza is fired in a coal oven, and it typically has a thin, crisp, and chewy crust, a slightly oblong shape, and some amount of charring along the outside. Pepe’s, along with Sally’s Apizza and Modern Apizza are considered the “Holy Trinity” of New Haven pizzerias, but Pepe’s is the most famous and, according to many, the best (although there’s always going to be debate among locals). This is the best pizza in America

This is the best pizza in AmericaThe clam Pizza is very good...with the oil, garlic..not soft clams and gooey...reminds me of escargot....but to be honest . the Bacon pizza for me is the best...real bacon used, not the artificial u find in local spots..with the mozzarella cheese and sauce...to die for... Son sometimes sends me pics of when he treats the kids at the restaurant or brings home...drives me nuts...though I do appreciate and don't want him to stop.... Pictures of the real thing..notice the charred crust...very chewy...also the not exact roundness of the pie...one thing they do that I do with a frozen super market pie...just before putting in oven..drizzle a little olive oil around the pie..try it..improves even a frozen pie..won't hurt. --------------------------------- www.google.com/search?sxsrf=ACYBGNQL60NpqTrp3kqbwucr_A2L-OjY7g:1577223377500&q=picture+of+peppies+bacon+pizza&tbm=isch&source=univ&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjUxZb5ns_mAhVLnlkKHUPNDgIQsAR6BAgKEAE&biw=853&bih=383&dpr=2.25

These kinds of "best" are very subjective. Clams on pizza sounds utterly horrible to me.

I used to live around the corner from Pepe's Pizzeria (mentioned in the article) and I have eaten the clam pizza mentioned several times. It was delicious. I miss New Haven pizza and have eaten at all three of the pizzerias mentioned in the article. I have eaten pizza in various cities around the country and I still say New Haven pizza is the best.

These kinds of "best" are very subjective. Clams on pizza sounds utterly horrible to me. I thought so too...was brought up on clams , raw , opened and put on ice and sprinkled with a tangy what ever.. Finally tried a piece once when out with friends...it reminds me of escargot...garlicy..not slimy at all....but as I said...my favorite is Bacon Pizza...unlike the local shops elsewhere were they use make believe Bacon...they use Real Bacon..cut up as a topping a few inches long.. Not saying u are wrong in what u like..but millions...yes since 1925, millions ..and with Yale just down the street..hugh corporations in Connecticut, workers go all over the world...suggest this top or near top ranking might have some legs to it...Just saying. Tenn...u have migrated around a bit...tasted P all over..am I wrong?

Claiming “he makes the best pizza” it’s similar with “Taco Bell is the best Mexican restaurant in US”. I could claim that I make the best pizza but that can’t be true since I never made myself a pizza! But I can still claim it! It is all subjective!

If u say so....but a Pizza from that area...especially the big three, Peppies, Modern, Sallys…is to die for... {Sallys was recently sold for big bucks...Sallys wife passed and family decided to sell, but new owners are seriously considering franchising...family members working for the new owners to teach them what made it special, so u might in time find a New Haven Style in your local}

But the article author does not claim he makes the best pizza. What he claims is the best pizza he has ever eaten is the Pepe's clam pizza. Various articles have been written by other food critics over the past years which rank the 50 or 100 best pizza/pizzerias around the country, The three New Haven pizzerias are usually all in the top 15 with two of them by being in the top ten. Pepe's is often the #1 pizzeria.
