Gov Kemp, who barely won his election against Stacy Abrams, is going to appoint financial services exec Kelly Loeffler to the soon to be vacant GA senate seat.
Trump doesn't want him to do that - he claims Loeffler doesn't have enough government experience (fucking rich, coming from our reality TV show host president) but the biggest issue is that Loeffler wasn't on board the Trump train in 2016. It's not enough for Kemp to appoint a conservative GOPer to the senate for GA, that person has to be a certified, hard core Trump toady.
I don't like Kemp but he is politically wily. He nearly lost his election due to the loss of female and suburban voters. He wants to put a successful GOP woman into this open Senate spot in order to improve his appeal to the voters he lost in the last election.
Trump wants a solid Trump toady, Collins, for the post, especially if we have an impeachment trial in the Senate.
So far, Kemp is sticking with Loeffler, despite another of Trump's best toadies, Matt Gaetz from Florida, threatening Kemp with a primary challenger if Kemp doesn't do what Trump wants.
Bad news for Trump that a GOP governor thinks he'll get more political hay out of appointing a less radical female than a flag waving Trump supporter.

happyhoix : is Loeffler a possible vote to remove Trump? has she commented on it? Haven't seen anything on this...but VERY doubtful. Kemp has more to worry about than placating DT! Remember that he only won his election by cheating and then by a VERY thin margin. If he put Collins in there...hard telling what would happen to him next election. Oh, and he is visiting my neck of the woods this Thur. to highlight a local manufacturing plant...boiler makers located in Coolidge, Ga. Need a boiler for anything?...they can make it. ETA...Dang, forgot to name it...Hurst Boilers.

happyhoix : is Loeffler a possible vote to remove Trump? has she commented on it? I doubt it. She was apparently not a supporter early on but is saying all the right toady things about Trump now. (Not unlike a lot of congress people).
However, I don't think she would be such a die hard suck up she'd follow Trump over the cliff if something really egregious popped up and public sentiment turned against Trump. Not like Nunes or Gaetz, who would follow Trump through the depths of hell at this point.

Loved hearing that female professor put Collins in his place this morning at the hearing!

I wonder if the only way out for the GOP is through the bottom. If they stuff the whole senate with Trumpers, would they be more likely to lose support?

Smart of Kemp to slide this one through when Trump is occupied sulking over NATO allies and the impeachment hearing.
Loeffler may not be the least of his problems, but she's not in the top ten right now.
