this is well studied.
a candidate needs enough funding to compete, but really rich candidates have no advantage over good fundraisers.
How did Trump get there , his good looks? a steady stream of lies and false promises, coupled with a well timed smear campaign against an inferior opponent.
he looks like ass, imo. and not the kind you want to surf the web for.

So the consensuses is that it would have been better for Trump not to subsidize farmers?? From the Left leaning side of the board??
the consensus is that tariffs are stupid.
the fact that we are paying for them with tax dollars does not reduce that consensus.

Have we ever had such a corrupt President before? I don't mean incompetent...the historians will have the judgement on that in about 50 years are so...Who knows, the judgement on that part may surprise us..especially his current distractors... but truly corrupt...that we don't need to wait 50 years for. Seems to increase weekly...

Don, you and I both know that most business fail within five years, many in less time than that! Failure to observe the conditions that effect your industry can not be construed as a failure caused outside influences.
I my self is in a failing industry, I profit by salvaging the bones that are left from the dead carcass. Think of me being an lawyer who's office is next door to the emergency room, when a victim comes in sign them up before they even see a DR... Those that are unconscience, use a bloody finger print as proof of signing the contract.
I doubt the family farmers killing themselves have only been in business 5 years or less. Trump’s tariffs are ruining them and you post like they deserve it because they aren’t observant of industry conditions. Apparently the ‘compassionate conservative’ movement is also a dead carcass now. Can you tell me how many years (or decades) farmers have been committing suicide? Or has this only started since the tariffs went into effect?

Consensus of who? Many economists say China has to be stopped from what they do to our companies. Many Democrats in Washington also say Trump is on the right course with China.

as to "many", that is an interesting term. MOST think that tariffs are a terrible idea. there are many other protective measures that could be employed to protect, for example, international property rights and patents. tariffs actually do little to nothing to preserve US inventions, VB. I know. I sell products in China (shipped one less than a week ago to Beijing), and they get copied, and there is not thing one I can do about it. I could give you an elaborate explanation about why, but I really don't have the time, and don't think it is in any way important.
only protectionists like tariffs. Republicans were against protectionism until a short time ago.
seeing them flip on this issue is both hilarious and repulsive.
but it is also really bad economics.
if you don't know why, I would gather you have never taken any econ classes.

Forbes himself is a whackadoodle. I can only imagine some of his acolytes are, as well.
