From you article- "he vicious impeachment fight ahead may further exacerbate polarization in America, leaving Republicans, Democrats, and everyone in between feeling even more suspicious of one another."
I disagree. The pro Trump no matter what folks will be more angry, the GOPers unwilling to stand up in public will likely be secretly happy. Not going through the process will further polarize sane moderates and most non RWers.
Also from the opinion article- "Democrats can’t believe Republicans are willing to give President Donald Trump a pass for basically anything, including asking a foreign leader to investigate the family of one of his political opponents. Republicans, on the other hand, see the latest phase of the impeachment inquiry as a deceitful, partisan ploy from Democrats desperate to get Trump out of office. These are not just two ways of interpreting the same set of facts, with a gentleman’s agreement to disagree."
I think many GOPers and Trump supporters know its a lie that the Democrats will do anything to get Trump out of office. It is because his behavior has been illegal and outrageous that we are here. If he could have kept himself under control after the Mueller report he might have made it through his term without being prosecuted and impeached. But he's a slave to his belief that nothing is off limits for him. For those Never Trumpers who believe this, they will be upset, but the two-faced beliefs they hold will not get the pass they used to get prior to Trump's election. The division exists. Not going through the impeachment process will not make it all better. Trump being a better President, staying legal, not using shadow channels including people beholden only unto him would have kept him from getting here. It's his own damn fault and behavior. Blame him, the great divider.

Oh, I get it, every thing will be cool if the Right winger suddenly completely agree with the falling off the edge Left!! Republicans, on the other hand, see the latest phase of the impeachment inquiry as a deceitful, partisan ploy from Democrats desperate to get Trump out of office.

No impeachment proceedings did not start the day after he was elected. That comment is why its hard to take you and many pro-Trumpers seriously. That's an emotional statement that is provably untrue and incorrect. Here's reality. Jill Stein I think was the only one shortly after the election to try to do a recount of votes shortly after Trump was elected. Nothing useful came of it and life moved on. Because of what many of us learned later about Trump and possible connections to Russia during the campaign, rumblings did start about impeachment. However, and this is important to remember, no real impeachment action started until just recently ... during his third year in office. Third. Not first, not even second. Trump is a bad man. This has nothing to do with his enabling conservative policies. I think he should be removed from office for disgracing the US and the Presidency. Try to understand that and feel how much I and others feel he has degraded the US and the office of Presidency. You can pretend its about being conservative, but do a reality check. W and Reagan and original Bush were never disliked even half this much.

That's very different. Got a link to back up your claim that impeachment proceedings started the day after Trump's election, or will you admit you pulled that out of your ass?

And where did it go from there? Nowhere. That's where. Sherman mentioned below is the same Sherman you mentioned above. How about January 3, 2019: House Democrat reintroduces impeachment articles against TrumpCNN) At least one House Democrat isn't going along with Nancy Pelosi's plea that it's too early to talk about impeaching President Donald Trump.Rep. Brad Sherman, a California Democrat, plans to re-introduce articles of impeachment against Trump on the first day of the new Congress, he said Thursday. Sherman was one of three Democrats who introduced resolutions to impeach Trump in 2017, along with Reps. Al Green of Texas and Steve Cohen of Tennessee, part of an effort from a small wing of House Democrats seeking to remove the President from office. Yes there are people on this board who hate everything Trump does - but there are also people on this board who refuse to acknowledge that Trump lies, does anything illegal or unconstitutional, or in fact, that he does anything wrong at all, ever - blaming every thing on 'Trump haters' who just make shit up. To improve the division, the people who hate Trump should ignore all his minor crimes and pettiness and focus on the big picture unconstitutional and illegal acts - but your side has to stop blindly pretending nothing at all is happening because Trump says so.
Could you do that?

I have said many time that I am not at all happy with everything Trump does, I do look past the petty stuff, and look at the better advances that he has made. On the other hand the Left leaning side of the board can not over look something as petty as having yellow hair! really??

I have to agree with you that there are too many comments on irrelevant things. Hair and hands are great examples. I don't see commenting on his name calling and mocking of others, especially his mocking of the disabled reporter, as the same. Those are choices that he makes that say to me he is a despicable human being. I do not want such a person as the leader of my nation. I do also have issues with his process for announcing policy decisions. Again, he is choosing that process and I see that as fair game for comment. I have commented more than once that I wish the GOP would nominate a reasonable and decent human being who, if elected, would carry forward Trump's policies and give the American voters an opportunity to accept or reject the policies. By choosing to re-nominate Trump himself, Republicans are endorsing the whole package. I find that alarming.

So here's what you do - don't click on any threads that talk about the petty comments, because you know they will annoy you. Do your part to bridge the divide by only looking at the threads that talk about the impeachment investigation, Trump's tax returns being subpoenaed for a tax fraud investigation by NY, that kind of serious thing - and if someone throws in an insult or joke about small hands, just ignore it.
You're not obligated to defend Trump's honor by attacking everyone who says anything petty about him.

Per [5] & [6] that effort was in June of 2017, and may have not made it past the draft stage per the comments. So not the first day. Talk is talk, formal action is what counts, and nothing effective regarding impeachment started until recently.
