Month started with a big drop, but now at the end, a relatively modest decrease.... Been losing on the treasury bills as they are popping back into my checking as they mature and being absorbed into the bills.... Have a little over 3k going into the 401k monthly, so I have to be happy with that and try to keep it at max levels till EOY. Lesson learned - if the allowable amount increases a lot, as it did for 2023, do something first of year even if it isn't perfect.....Not only were stock prices cheaper first half of year (!) but now I have a larger amount to try to keep going

Update - Disappointing, I knew my HSA was going to take a hit since I had a test done near the end of July, I did not expect such a drop in retirement. I did pay down my home equity loan an extra 500.00 this month. Lost all of last month's gain and a little more. It was fun while it lasted.

Here is my September 2023 update:
ASSETS: Checking/Savings: $216,888 House: $512,700 Retirement: $1,835,732 Brokerage: $65,004 529s: $96,476
DEBTS: $0
Total NW: $2,726,800
As usual, the list above excludes our cars, which are worth around $30k combined, but I leave them out because we're unlikely to sell, and need them to get to/from work, kids schools, etc. in the land of suburbia.
We're down over 3% thanks to the stock market. But otherwise, no big changes last month over the previous months.

10/1/2023
Assets: House: $300,000+ Cash: $390,000 I bonds: $270,000 Brokerage: $205,000 401k/IRAs: $1,365,000 HSA: $45,000 529s: $75,000 Cars (4): $30,000
Net worth: $2,680,000
Paid half ($9500) towards our new roof. Paid ~$2500 for airfare and lodging for a fall vacation to Florida. I’m guessing another $1500 to cover the rest. Found out my state increased the 529 tax credit this year so I will be adding another $2500 to those in order to maximize the benefit. My kids have some I bonds that have now moved to the lower interest rates. (Not included in my net worth statement.) I think I’ll sell them in January when they can take the three month penalty at the lower rate. Will probably just put it back in their savings accounts but could always rebuy I bonds with a higher fixed rate. The current ones are 0%.

I guess I haven't updated since August. Probably because it's no fun when it's going down. Except for 10K for paying off student loans I moved all of DS's 529 back into stocks. It was pretty heavy in cash and bonds the past 7 or 8 years, but unless he decides to go to grad school he won't need it anymore and Carrot has a longer time frame. Of course now I'm watching his 529 tank. Cash and bonds have their upsides! Mortgage - $73,324 CC debt - $3129 Total Debt $76,453Cash and Savings - $54,038 529s - $60,295 Retirement - $841,367 House - $300,000 Total Assets $1,255,690Net Worth $1,179,237

MPL - don't look as often, like me and Chiver. My OCD won't let me stop at this point. I have a spreadsheet with monthly NW reporting going back almost 12 years now. I've only missed one month in all those years. It was August 2013 and that blank line still bugs me!

Whoops...missed updating in October. I updated in my spreadsheet, but never noted it here. Oh well, it was down, but yay for November being up (finally)!
Here is my November 2023 update:
ASSETS: Checking/Savings: $213,572 House: $512,700 Retirement: $1,972,111 Brokerage: $69,680 529s: $104,737
DEBTS: $0
Total NW: $2,872,800
As usual, the list above excludes our cars, which are worth around $30k combined, but I leave them out because we're unlikely to sell, and need them to get to/from work, kids schools, etc. in the land of suburbia.
We're up about 7% this month. DH is dangerously close to being in the 2 comma club in his 401k, so we'll see what happens next month. He hit that milestone in 2021 for a few months, but hasn't seen it since. And the kids (combined) 529s hit a new milestone, so that's good news.

ok - current AA is 88% stocks/ETFs/MF and 12% cash and equivalents. Which my taget was 90/10, but I guess my new target is to hve 3 years in cash so I can pull the plug whenever and I'm not there yet, so....rethinking cash part and target AA? I guess I've gotten myself confused with my new and improved modeling that includes SS at 70, and the mortgage, car and student loans dropping out of repayment along the way. While this means my target amount is much less than a strict 25xexpenses - it also means that 3 years of expenses before SS kicks in or any loans paid off is going to be a lot more than 10% or so. Based on my spreadsheet with expected soc sec at 70, my minimum number is 1,882,936 for a level 100k spend, and then modeling at age 60 retirement (1 year!) with the dropping off of debts I have 100% success rate: engaging-data.com/will-money-last-retire-early/?spend=62000&initsav=1880000&age=60&yrs=40&stockpct=80&bondpct=0&cashpct=20&sex=1&infl=1&taxrate=15&fees=0.1&income=44000&incstart=70&incend=100&expense=14000;15000;10000&expstart=60;60;60&expend=87;68;64&showdeath=0&showlow=1&show2x=1&show5x=1&flexpct=10&spendthreshold=100&mort=ssbut I am already over that for this year and a lot more living to do! I went over 100k spend in like October actually. Lots of vet expenses, medical expenses, and took a vacation....but that could happen any year! Need to pull in some budget stuff, as I don't think a spend of over 100k is going to ever get me retired, lol

Well, today was a good day! Retirement accounts jumped more than 7K and put me over 900K.
