There is nowhere near enough active Canadians on this board to get any accurate feedback of the overall Canadian opinion of this. I would suggest you check out Globe & Mail, CTV, CBC and other Canadian news sites to get an idea of that. I'll put in a couple of links to the Canadian News pages. CBC newsCTV NewsPersonally, I am more concerned about what all of the parties are promising to do if elected and what the PCs and Liberals have and haven't done in the past 8 years then what any one of them did the month before my daughter was born. Shit like this happens at private parties. People should bitch about it when it happens, not 18 years later.

We have a few Canadians who are very vocal about American politics and especially about Trump. I see no reason they should not voice their opinion on this subject. Incidently, not sure if it still in the article but it did show him apoligizing in the aisle of an empty jet plane explaining his regret. I am more concerned about an empty jet showing lots of seats, and his flying around polluting our environment, as he says he is an enviromentalist. I am pretty sure he was not flying coach yesterday and waited for everyone to disembark before talking to the press.

Blackface doesn't have the same horrific connotations here as it has in the USA. We have a different history.
I saw a "man in the street" interview where they were asking black Canadians how they felt about it. Most just shrugged and said "Meh, he apologized. Not a big deal." That being said, I wouldn't have voted for him before, and I won't vote for him now. Nothing to do with the blackface.

Haven't these people learned anything about leadership from President Trump? Call fake news, deny, double down, and then start another issue so it's forgotten. And never, I repeat, NEVER apologize!

Like I said, blackface doesn't have the same connotation here. We have a completely different "black history". Most people don't care. The opposition cares, because we're in the throes of election campaigning. It's a huge deal for the NDP and the Conservatives.

The Dutch don't lose their minds over the Zwarte Pieten who accompany Sinterklaas. Again, a different black history.

His opponents are making a big deal about but they also make a big deal about him letting in too many immigrants. You can't really shit on him for both things at the same time. With blackface a lot of Canadians understand that folks could have done that out of a lack of awareness since a lot of us have done it ourselves.

Again, different black/slavery history. From Tenn's link.....
In Canada, the majority of slaves were not of African (descent), but rather of Aboriginal origin.

Most blacks in the US are descended from slaves, who did not go there willingly. Most blacks in Canada immigrated here, from Africa and the Caribbean. They came here because they wanted to. Completely different mind-set.

When I moved to the US, I experienced a few culture shocks. (Well, quite a few). I noticed that the blacks in the US were ANGRY, and who could blame them? Their people were kidnapped, in chains, beaten, sold, lynched and killed.
Many who lived in my housing complex near the military base wouldn't speak to me. Some did and we became friends. Then some of the white people wouldn't speak to me, calling me a N-lover. I found it shocking, horrifying and sad. That's just one of the culture shocks.

And there ladies and gentlemen is the difference with the man on the golden throne. When he came under fire for the grab them by the p*ssy comment we heard him make, the reaction was "just locker room talk". No big deal
Anyone having difficulties seeing the difference?
