Senator Bernie Sanders is on fire tnight. He could suffer a stroke the way he is going. His voice seems hoarse and seems to have to yerll louder than normal...... First 35 minutes is strictly healthcare and is nasty Mayor Pete just said this is why we have people turning off the debates because of the infighting.

DH was flipping between football, our leadership debate and the democratic debate earlier. I'm unclear what he's getting out of any of them other than lots of opportunities to yell at the TV.

Watching Mash and Andy Griffith, not that sh**show, and yelling the tv sort of explains the whole night. I tried to watch it. I really did. I had to turn it off after 1 1/2 hour of "emotional depression" being spewed out at America at large.
Evidently our country is such a shit show, There was not one candidate up there that can save us from ourselves. Hopefully a few of them are done after tonight. Bernie actually scared me tonight.
I did notice that some candidates actually did not answer the questions they were asked, so we are starting to get to the ususal type of political debates we have grown used to.

Do you and sesfw only get two TV channels? It's uncanny you and she watched the same two TV shows. Read a book!

I stopped watching the debates sometime in the 90's. it was after the GOP rallied their troops against the LWV holding them. they have not been debates since that time. they are carefully manicured forums for mainstream candidates, none of whom will get my vote.

Are you watching the debate tonight?
No, we have our own elections going on. Official campaigning started on the 11th, and we'll go to the polls on October 21st. Forty days, whereas it seems like the USA is always in campaign mode.

If you care what I did after watching the first 90 minutes, and I doubt you do, I went to Xfinity and watched an episode of Sherlock Holmes (television series) I have taped. You know I am sort of a political junkie who watches both parties's debates. I usually can post positive, or at least level headed synopsis of even the democratic debates, but last night most of the panel literally scared me. I simply could no longer take all the rhetoric being spewed on stage.

I would be good with a six month nomination campaign schedule here, and forty day actual campaign schedule. Would limit big donor influence on the voting public.

All presidential candidates do that. Remember Trump's stump speeches about how horrible things were? How the economy was tanking? His American Carnage inauguration speech?
Then - six weeks after he takes office, the same economy that was on the skids is suddenly the land of milk and honey.
You're old enough to know that particular political chestnut.

Reminds me too much of that strutting rooster Mussolini.

So...today I've caught up with my friend's who watched and I've got the highlights. Wow.
I'm not kidding when I tell you that the Dem nominee will be VERY fortunate to crack 40%. They spent three hours literally scaring the shit out of voters last night. They were a parody of themselves- a complete joke. They're everything every nut job right winger every said they were- and then some.
Number one observation: NO MENTION of the economy. Not one question- not a single comment. NO MENTION about jobs. Zip. Zero. Nada on jobs.

I'm not watching yet, too many candidates and too much fighting. I'd rather not witness that. But I am fearful that there is not one solid candidate that could beat Trump. Someone needs to get their shit together, and honestly, I'm so tired of Bernie and Biden. Warren seems like another Hillary....to unlikeable to be elected. I'm keeping my eye on Yang, Mayor Pete, and Harris right now. But that will probably change....

Zip. Zero. Nada on jobs. This week the House Judiciary committee laid out the ground work on Impeachment. Topic was not discussed. Ignored. Tuesday the SC ruled to leave Trump's asylum policy in place at least temporarily with only two dissenting votes. No question where they stand and how to stop Trump on the issue. ABC did a disservice to democrats ignoring some real issues, other than healthcare and gun rights, or the lack gun rights by democrats. North Korea, Iran basically ignored, and Afghanistan was discussed where basically they called for a pullout and solve problems worldwide through the State department.......like that has ever really worked...... P.S.I admit I am done with Afghanistan. You either do what is necessary to defeat the opposition or pack up and go home.

I'm not extremely excited about any of them. I will vote blue, but they all kind of seem like the same ole same ole. The ones that aren't, don't really stand a chance.

Good chance that by the time my state gets to have their primary, any candidates that I feel are viable will have been weeded out by earlier state primaries and I won't even have a chance to vote for who I really wanted because they will have bowed out due to lack of/low votes in early primaries. I really wish there was a single primary day with perhaps a secondary if top winners are close. Instead of early primary states doing the choosing for the rest of the country.

... I really wish there was a single primary day with perhaps a secondary if top winners are close. Instead of early primary states doing the choosing for the rest of the country. The consequence of this is that candidates would have to be able to run a nationwide campaign from day one. Think about who would and would not in a position to do that. Would you want to have that narrow of a field?
