What Is The Rapture?
May 20, 2011, 4:50 PM
A lot of people believe that tomorrow, May 21, is the end of the world, but that's not necessarily true. Many believers think that it will be the Rapture, which only signals the beginning of the end of the world. There are a LOT of different interpretations of the end times, so other versions of the story may conflict, but one of the most well-known theories – popularized in the best-selling book series, "Left Behind" – says that on the day of the Rapture all true believers in Jesus Christ will immediately ascend to meet him "in the skies." They will vanish into thin air, not even taking their clothing. For those Left Behind, they will now be subject to the Tribulation, a seven-year long torment, when the Anti-Christ will rise to rebuild the Temple of Solomon and take over the world. (In the books, he's a smooth talking politician who becomes the Secretary-General of the United Nations.) During this time, the people of Earth will experience hardship, famine, war, and eventually Armageddon, the final battle between good and evil. After that final conflict, the Second Coming of Jesus will happen, the Anti-Christ will be defeated, and the remaining believers will join him in Kingdom of Heaven. This is slightly different than the prediction of Harold Camping who believes the Rapture happens tomorrow, but the world will actually "end" on October 21, 2011. The good news, is that if you don't ascend to Heaven tomorrow (and only about 3% of the world will), those who manage to survive the "fiery trial" can still be saved and earn a place in the New Heaven and New Earth. But most of the people left on Earth will die during the Tribulation, so your odds are not good. Here's a trailer for one of the Left Behind movies, starring Kirk Cameron:

Here's Why The World Is Going To End On May 21, 2011
We picked up a pamphlet in Union Square to see why so many people are talking about the world ending on May 21, 2011. It turns out the theory comes down to two numerological proofs. The first proof is based on Genesis 7:4, when God said to Noah: "Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made." When God referred to seven days, he meant both seven days and seven thousand years, because "one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." The flood occurred in 4990 BC. Seven thousand years later is 2011.
The second proof looks at the significance of the number of days between the Crucifixion and May 21, 2011. There are 722,500 days between these dates. 722,500 is a significant number because it is composed of the significant numbers 5x10x17x5x10x17. Five signifies redemption; ten signifies completion; and 17 signifies heaven. The numbers represent the day of redemption (5) and the end of the Christian era (10) and the ascent to heaven (17) -- and these factors are doubled for added significance. We'll know for sure soon. Hi Ty:
I think it's me! Sometimes I have the patience of a 'chainsaw'.
How's your golfing this year? I have become a fair weather golfer ... spring and fall when it's not too hot! I am definitely a cold weather person. barb

My long game has improved and my short game, oh well we wont talk about it yet. The Girls are in town this weekend, so I'm going to try and get out there this year but will probably just set at home and watch them.

"just set at home and watch them."
Sounds good to me ... if it's not air conditioned ... I'm not doing it.
I did go out to Valhalla one day for three hours during the Seniors, but the hot weather had not yet arrived so it was pleasant, and enjoyable.
As you probably know, Fuzzy didn't make the cut.
Night .... it's been a very long day.

To Bob who is so very deserving of the Nation’s remembrance and praise:
Day is done. Gone the sun. From the lakes From the hills. From the sky. All is well. Safely rest. God is nigh.
Fading light. Dims the sight. And a star. Gems the sky. Gleaming bright. From afar. Drawing nigh. Falls the night.
Thanks and praise. For our days. Neath the sun. Neath the stars. Neath the sky As we go. This we know. God is nigh
Good night sweet soul....

God's Wife IT WILL KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF I especially liked number 5!
Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talked about a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the Contest was to find the most caring child. The winner was: 1. A four-year-old child, whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman, who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old Gentleman's' yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his mother asked him what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy just said, 'Nothing, I just Helped him cry.'
********************************************* 2. Teacher Debbie Moon's first graders were discussing a picture of a family. One little boy in the picture had a different hair color than the other members. One of her students suggested that he was adopted. A little girl said, 'I know all about Adoption, I was adopted..' 'What does it mean to be adopted?', asked another child. 'It means', said the girl, 'that you grew in your mommy's heart instead of her tummy!'
************************ ********************* 3. On my way home one day, I stopped to watch a Little League base ball game that was being played in a park near my home. As I sat down behind the bench on the first-base line, I asked one of the boys what the score was 'We're behind 14 to nothing,' he answered With a smile. 'Really,' I said. 'I have to say you don't look very discouraged.' 'Discouraged?', the boy asked with a Puzzled look on his face... 'Why should we be discouraged? We haven't Been up to bat yet.'
*********************** **********************
4. Whenever I'm disappointed with my spot in life, I stop and think about little Jamie Scott. Jamie was trying out for a part in the school play. His mother told me that he'd set his heart on being in it, though she feared he would not be chosen..
On the day the parts were awarded, I went with her to collect him after school. Jamie rushed up to her, eyes shining with pride and excitement.. 'Guess what, Mom,' he shouted, and then said those words that will remain a lesson to me....'I've been chosen to clap and cheer.'
********************************************* 5. An eye witness account from New York City , on a cold day in December, some years ago: A little boy, about 10-years-old, was standing before a shoe store on the roadway, barefooted, peering through the window, and shivering With cold. A lady approached the young boy and said, 'My, but you're in such deep thought staring in that window!' 'I was asking God to give me a pair of shoes,' was the boy's reply. The lady took him by the hand, went into the store, and asked the clerk to get half a dozen pairs of socks for the boy. She then asked if he could give her a basin of water and a towel. He quickly brought them to her.
She took the little fellow to the back part of the store and, removing her gloves, knelt down, washed his little feet, and dried them with the towel. By this time, the clerk had returned with the socks.. Placing a pair upon the boy's feet, she purchased him a pair of shoes.. She tied up the remaining pairs of socks and gave them to him.. She patted him on the head and said, 'No doubt, you will be more comfortable now..'
As she turned to go, the astonished kid caught her by the hand, and looking up into her face, with tears in his eyes, asked her: 'Are you God's wife?'
********************************************* SEND TO ALL WHO LOVE AND CARE FOR CHILDREN.
Hope this put a smile on your face it Sure did mine!
Live well, Laugh often, & Love with all of your heart!

Tequila and Salt
This should probably be taped
to your bathroom mirror
where one could read it every day..
You may not realize it,
but it's 100% true.
1. There are at least two people in this world
that you would die for.
2. At least 15 people in this world
love you in some way.
3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you
is because they want to
be just like you.
4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone,
even if they don't
like you.
5. Every night,
SOMEONE thinks about you
before they go to sleep.
6. You mean the world to someone.
7. You are special and unique.
8. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.
9. When you make the biggest mistake ever,
something good comes from it.
10. When you think the world
has turned its back on you
take another look.
11. Always remember the compliments you received..
Forget about the rude remarks.
So...........
If you are a loving friend,
send this to everyone,
including the one that sent it to you.
If you get it back, then they really do love you.
And always remember...
when life hands you Lemons,
ask for Tequila and Salt and call me over!
Good friends are like stars.........
You don't always see them,
But you know they are always there..
"Whenever God Closes One Door He Always Opens Another, Even Though
Sometimes It's Hell in the Hallway"
I would rather have one rose and a kind word
from a friend while I'm here
than a whole truck load when I'm gone..
Happiness keeps You Sweet,
Trials keep You Strong,
Sorrows keep You Human,
Failures keeps You Humble,
Success keeps You Glowing,
But Only
God keeps You Going
'Worry looks around, sorry looks back, Faith looks up.'
Have faith..

Online gamers crack AIDS enzyme puzzle
Online gamers have achieved a feat beyond the realm of Second Life or Dungeons and Dragons: they have deciphered the structure of an enzyme of an AIDS-like virus that had thwarted scientists for a decade. The exploit is published on Sunday in the journal Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, where -- exceptionally in scientific publishing -- both gamers and researchers are honoured as co-authors. Their target was a monomeric protease enzyme, a cutting agent in the complex molecular tailoring of retroviruses, a family that includes HIV. Figuring out the structure of proteins is vital for understanding the causes of many diseases and developing drugs to block them.
But a microscope gives only a flat image of what to the outsider looks like a plate of one-dimensional scrunched-up spaghetti. Pharmacologists, though, need a 3-D picture that "unfolds" the molecule and rotates it in order to reveal potential targets for drugs. This is where Foldit comes in. Developed in 2008 by the University of Washington, it is a fun-for-purpose video game in which gamers, divided into competing groups, compete to unfold chains of amino acids -- the building blocks of proteins -- using a set of online tools. To the astonishment of the scientists, the gamers produced an accurate model of the enzyme in just three weeks. Cracking the enzyme "provides new insights for the design of antiretroviral drugs," says the study, referring to the lifeline medication against the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). It is believed to be the first time that gamers have resolved a long-standing scientific problem. "We wanted to see if human intuition could succeed where automated methods had failed," Firas Khatib of the university's biochemistry lab said in a press release. "The ingenuity of game players is a formidable force that, if properly directed, can be used to solve a wide range of scientific problems." One of Foldit's creators, Seth Cooper, explained why gamers had succeeded where computers had failed. "People have spatial reasoning skills, something computers are not yet good at," he said. "Games provide a framework for bringing together the strengths of computers and humans. The results in this week's paper show that gaming, science and computation can be combined to make advances that were not possible before."Photo by AFP games.yahoo.com/blogs/plugged-in/online-gamers-crack-aids-enzyme-puzzle-161920724.html
