I currently have my Roth IRA and IRA investments in Fidelity Freedom Fund 2045. I want to get your opinions on whether I should keep adding to the Fidelity Freedom Fund 2045 or invest my next contributions in the Fidelity Spartan 500 Index fund?
I'm 33 with a high risk tolerance. I understand that this is a long haul investment (25-30 + years).
Investing in stocks/funds/etc. is an area where I am a rookie, so any help is appreciated.

You'll get better responses if you indicate your age and risk tolerance. Your timeline makes a difference.

I like the Freemon funds.. One stop shopping.
What other investments, assets and debts do you have?

Archie, my current investments are:
Old job 401(k) (with Fidelity, mix of funds suggested by Fidelity) - Subtotal $18,585.71, consisting of Hartford Cap App IB $8,097.50, Vang Mid Cap Idx Sig $1,814.22, Royce Value Plus IS $1,243.54, AF Eurpac Grth R4 $2,170.37, Amer New Perspect R4 $2,208.29, Pimco Tot Retrun Adm (Bonds) $3,051.79. Fidelity IRA - Subtotal $6,508.88, consisting of Fidelity Freedom 2045 (FFFGX) $6,508.88. Fidelity Roth IRA - Subtotal $22,322.15, consisting of Fidelity Freedom 2045 (FFFGX) $22,322.15
Total Investments (in retirement funds) $47,416.74 (I know, I know, I started late. I kick myself every time I run the #s!)
I also have 2 rentals (1 was my primary residence...I just moved). Both rentals combined are cash flow neutral. My old primary residence is way underwater.
I have student loan debt ($80k, but at 1.625%...good investment there!)
No other debt.

IMHO, I would roll over your old 401k and invest it in the Freedom 2045.

Ditto - (roll the old 401k into the 2045).

Only investing in the S&P is not diversified. It does represent the US equities market though. Because of that and that you admitted you're a rookie, keep investing in the Target fund. And rollover that old 401k to the same fund.
