Oh I want to go to the Biltmore! I was just looking the other day. We just read Serafina and the Black Cloak ... but it's such a long drive for us. I'm sorry I'm no help, but I want to hear all about the Biltmore  |

I looked at rooms. The cheapest was on Sunday night and was $329 plus plus plus.

A chunk of the blue ridge parkway is there. There's some great mountains around there - some you can drive up to. Grandfather mountain is cool and if it doesn't have a suspension bridge than the mountain that does is cool. If you're going in the summer Tennessee is really close and there's white water rafting and a sliding rock in the (i think state) park just over the border.
Downtown keeps chains a franchises out of it so almost everything down there is local. I forgot where I ate though. They also have a lot of galleries because it's an artist city. And some boutiques that are cool.
I can't testify, but my cousin has mentioned they have a lot of great breweries there. Also the live music scene is pretty cool, but my cousin is in one of the bands so I might be biased lol.
