Beyond Meat IPO and first day trade on the NASDAQ today

Stock opened at $25 a share and immediately doubled in price within an hour and currently up 170% of the opening price.

This is plant based food that tastes like beef, and is  now sold at Whole Foods and many national chain restaurants as a Vegan choice.

It is amazing how far the plant based foods have come to replicating meat, what happens to the entire meat industry supply chain when plant based foods can completely replicate the texture and flavor at a cheaper price?

I have no interest in eating something like that.  I will stick with meat thank you. Lets see how this ends, it wouldn't be the first to be hyped then flounder.

Tyson should buy one of the analogues that are already out there.

The plant-based "meat" has zero cholesterol, far less saturated fat, and is environmentally friendly. The ingredients don't sound particularly ominous. I'd eat it in a heartbeat.

"Environmentally friendly" all depends on HOW the plants are raised and could end up being worse than raising livestock in the long run.  
Besides, animal (cow/horse/chicken) manures are great fertilizers.  If natural fertilizers have to be replaced with chemicals...not so good for our future.

LOL, they reported yesterday, losing 13 cents a share but sales are growing fast, etc etc, etc, up $29.87 a share right now at $129 and change.
Five weeks on the stock exchange and opened at $25 a share........

I think the meat alternative industry will have a niche for a very long time and the niche may become much larger than it is currently. For my personal investments the IPO market is just too speculative. I prefer positive earnings and positive outlooks.

Wondering if a big multi national food corporation decides to buy them out in the near future.
Doubt if mgmt is interested, but the stock price is getting nose bleed territory and could drop like a rock....or not.

Beyond meat had a great week last week concerning the stock price.
Today it is up again and is currently trading at $202 a share.

They are at an incredibly difficult time in their growth where they have to make many huge decisions on global footprint and capacity.  Don't get me wrong, an incredibly great problem to have as a company but I'm sure their demand signal says to build a lot of plants and hire a lot of staff however if their demand softens their profitably will be nuked by excess capacity.

Stock is down to low $180's down $16.38 on the news.......not sure when the offering goes into effect.

BYND is on the verge of a big launch with McDonalds.
as a consumer of their products, i feel about 95% certain that McD customers are going to like it.
it would be HUGE for them, as McD's is SUCH a large chain.
