Favorite Drink: Sometimes I drink water... just to surprise my liver!

I drove my car through the automatic car wash day before yesterday. Before long I felt a drip. within a few seconds I had what seemed like a fairly good amount of water coming in along the top of my windshield. I had some paper towels sitting on the passenger seat to clean my windows with, so I grabbed them and held them where the headliner and windshield meet (where the water was dripping from). A few became dripping wet. The rest were soaked, but not dripping - prob 6 total. I plan on contacting a glass repair company that replaces windshields. Anything I should know or be sure to ask when I go in? Is there any chance it will be covered by my insurance? (I have insurance that covers broken glass/windshields) My guess is that this is the result of a poor seal- possibly rust, but the rust I can see is minimal- not very big and only in one area- not where it leaked in, but it could have traveled, I suppose. I considered repairing it with Flex Seal or whatever that infomercial is (not seriously!), but decided that's probably not the best way to go. -Just thought I would check, to see what you all had to say. Thanks so much! ♥

I had a windshield that leaked and it ended up needing to be replaced, bad seal. I didn't turn it into my insurance so no help there. The guy did say if I had waited to much longer there was a chance that the windshield could have fallen out. It was leaking top and bottom.

If it was the car wash that damaged it, your insurance will cover it. If it's because it's rusted, it's a maintenance issue that you pay for. Depending on what your deductible is and if the windshield is heated or not, the cost to replace might not even be over your deductible anyway.

Thank you for the replies. I spent a lot of time working on this today. First I was told my deductible is $250. Cost of windshield is $189.95 plus tax. My heart sank. I didn't think I had a deductible. The car wash is owned by EX2's family, so I'd rather not go there, but I would if it was their fault. It wasn't. The bead (seal) around the windshield has gone bad. I made more phone calls. Talked to more people. In the end, I really do not have a deductible! WOO - HOO! Windsheild is getting replaced tomorrow. I'm glad I spoke to the glass repair place first. The guy told me that my windshield has to be taken out in order to replace the bead. He said that 99% of them break when they are taken out, so I should plan on replacement. When I called and spoke to my insurance, I just said I need my windshield replaced. The claims guy asked if the damage affected the driver's view. This was a tricky question for me, but after consideration, I said yes (without giving explanation). So they suggested full replacement, at zero deductible and made the necessary calls to arrange for the work to be done at no charge to me. - What a relief! Thanks again!

Yikes!
