I think the motor in the sump pump is burned out. It ran non-stop for several hours. It was installed in the spring and I know it's under warranty.

The house looks so much better, finally. Today's main tasks were dusting and vacuuming. I hate to dust with a passion and it was so bad that I kept taking breaks so it took forever to finish that task. Then everything got a good vacuuming and the house just looks so much better. I still have some things that need to go into a donation bag and get hauled off. There is a sack of books that has been sitting on the end of the kitchen table since our garage sale in August. They will not be going back into the bookshelf so there they sit. Hopefully tomorrow they will be gone. Other tasks today included emptying the dishwasher, starting to pack for our trip at the end of the week, 1 more load of laundry, hard cooking eggs for the salad I will make tomorrow, and buying cat food. I also had lunch with my Dad which I hadn't done in some time. It is rare to get one on one time with Dad. The kitchen floor still needs to be done but tomorrow is cooking day for our trip. I will be making a pie and if I am doing anything with flour there is no point cleaning the kitchen floor ahead of time.

Motor is not burned out. The discharge pipe outside had broken so the water was recycling through the pump. He fixed the pipe and filled in the hole with gravel.
Now, it's making another louder noise. I've called and he will be by later today. $$$$$

That one didn't even last 6 months.

I'm so glad they replaced it TheO! That was the right thing to do. I forgot about an assignment due at Job 2 today. I managed to do half of them today, I should be able to do the rest at school tomorrow during the grammar test. And if not, hey, I'll only have 3h of marking left.
This week
- online marking part 3/Tues - Class A: 18 grammar tests/Tues
- Job 2 A: 4 papers/Wed - reference letter/Wed
- Job 2 B: 4 papers - Class B: 19 grammar tests I just spent 30 min at the police station. I came home to a parking ticket for my car, with my plates, from a city 5 hours away. I've never set foot there, let alone at midnight on a weeknight. I called the car leasing company to try to understand and they told me to file a complaint at the police station ASAP. The officer said it's usually because whoever wrote the ticket got a number or letter wrong, and that it rarely happens more than once. But if it happens again, that means it's shady, and I'll need to file another complaint ASAP and get new plates from the DMV. I REALLY hope it doesn't happen again.
But I lucked out with the timing, it was really quick. DH offered to take care of the paperwork to get the ticket cancelled (we have to send the police report).

Flooring is going in today. We did the demo. The past 2 days the installers installed the underlayment so today I will get to see the real floor. Can't wait to get out of work to see the progress. I'm hoping they are on schedule to finish up tomorrow. Friday the carpet gets installed on the steps and in the 2nd floor hallway. Still waiting to find out when the replacement cabinets will be delivered. I have learned one thing from this renovation. We have too much crap. I look forward to putting the house back together and getting rid of a lot of stuff.

My progress today has been halted by a little sick one. DGS has been running a fever, DD thinks it's teeth since he has popped in 4 in about a week and a half and seems to be getting another one. She stayed home with him yesterday, DSIL stayed home this morning and then brought him to me around noon. He is napping right now. I did get the cooking done for the trip, Mac and Cheese, Macaroni Salad and the pumpkin pie is in the oven. DD is going to stay and have mac and cheese for dinner with me tonight. By the time she gets off work, picks up DGD and drives up here DGD will be hangry.
I doubt the kitchen floor will get cleaned today.

I got a call from the rescue Mission that their truck is coming by tomorrow - so today early morning, I started taking out the clothes for donation. Have a big bag of stuff and will try to go through some more today evening before I get the bags ready for tomorrow morning. I think I will also send off some of my kitchen stuff that I don't use.

I really need to get my sh*t together for DS2's birthday party this weekend. I have been slacking on prep and I am going to be so mad at myself for it come Friday evening. To Do: Finish purchasing supplies neededFind pizza deals/pre order pizza for party Finish assembling treat bagsMake centerpieces Decide on cake design, get suppliesStart baking, prepping cake decor Organize and load up supplies in car Wrap presentThankfully his party is at the park, so I don't have to get my house in "lots of company" shape. Got a few things marked off.

My routine appointments start later this month because I deferred everything to October the year I turned 65 because I wanted Medicare to cover it. However, my doctor postponed until December, which I don't like, but said to do the lab work and mammo in October as scheduled.
Not until the end of the month, so we will see if I postpone.
I did cancel working at the voting polls. It isn't worth the money to me for what it takes out of me for less than $10 an hour. I don't do well being exposed to people for 13 hours straight. It took me at least a week last time to want to leave the house. Not doing it again.
I had not gone to the training yet, as it starts next week, so they owe me no money.

I'm glad you cancelled the voting TheO, I remember how difficult that was for you. I tried to book a new female gyn online, no luck. So I'll have to go back to my old one again. I like HER but I don't like the way she does things, ie I can't get my results because "people don't know how to interpret them." She's in her 80s (seriously!) and I went to her because my friend E goes to her, and she was the only one without a 6-8 month wait. I wonder why LOL. So I'll probably go back one more time and then get on someone else's waiting list. This said, she still teaches at med school, in her 80s!
I had a WONDERFUL gyn for 20 years, she retired a few years ago. They are close friends, that's the other reason I went to this woman. Now I wish I had just bitten the bullet and gone to someone younger in the first place, because it's a PITA to find a new gyn every few years.
The other option is to go to a man, they're more available. I would prefer a woman but I may decide to do that instead (watch me find out they're not taking new patients either lol).
ETA: I just booked online in 30 seconds with a well-rated male gyn in my suburb, for later this month. At least I'll be able to get everything done. If I'm happy with him I'll stay with him. If not I'll have 12-18 months to find another one LOL.

nikiz628 you are so busy with your two little kids, I would really encourage you to make even ONE appt this/next month. It's no fun when it all accumulates. Do you guys have Doctolib (online booking for medical appts)? It's a total Gdsend, you register on the website and make your appts online. Here most (but not all) docs use it. It's not easy to book a NEW specialist doc online (hence my problems finding a new female gyn), but it's VERY easy to see your usual docs. That's also how I found someone to vacuum my ear wax last summer. (He was NOT highly rated but he was available the next day LOL.) I had 4 appts to make tonight, I was able to make 2 of them on that online platform. One was with my usual dentist, the other was the new gyn. My local Xray place is NOT online, so I'll call them tomorrow about the mammo and bone density test. I'm hoping I can do both the same day but we'll see.

I can book certain doctor appointments online. I will have to see if I can change the mammo appointment online. For medical things (not dentists and eye doctors), I go to one clinic. Not all specialties have online appointment scheduling.
I'm happy you are getting away from the 80 year old gyn. Sorry but she should be retired.
I also prefer a woman. My family practice doctor does my gyn checks and she is a woman.

I feel like all those annual appointments eventually slip at some point. I call and they aren't booking, I call back and it's three months out.
My primary care appointment is at the end of the month. I didn't go last year as I had doctor burnout from the 5 sinus infections I had prior to surgery.
I do regularly go to my specialists because I have to. They also run blood work so I'm not concerned. I'm not a huge fan but I go once a year. It's convenient enough.

I found the local radiology place online, so I booked an appt for two exams on the same day. That meant 4 doc appts in Oct over 3 weeks. Ouch. So I cancelled my dentist appt, I'll see him in Nov.
Relieved to have realized this and to be getting on with it.

I told my cleaning lady to give it a good clean so I can look at the birds when I have my coffee . Sent away a juicer, some pots and pans, a few trays, 2 big bags of clothes, a basketball, a fairly new set of racquets & a big duffel bag full of old jackets and shoes.

Sooooo, just got an update on the 5 damaged cabinets. They are saying delivery is "around" 10/30. I'm about ready to lose my shit. It takes a lot to make me mad, but I am with a partially finished kitchen that cannot have a sink or countertops installed until the end of this month. I didn't want to go with custom cabinets, because the guy was busy until mid-November, now DH is throwing it in my face that we should have just gone with custom. UGH! So, wise ones, what would you "demand". I told the rep that the manufacturer owes us "something" but I can't think straight on what that "something" should be.

Lowe's really does stink, IMO. My experience was earlier this year when was when I attempted to buy a new dishwasher from them. DH and I carefully researched online what we wanted beforehand and made a list of several model numbers. Within 30 minutes at the store, we were told the first employee was busy, a second was from a different department and didn't know what was going on and she better get back before she got fired, and a third was just downright an ass. Bait and switch (oh, if you want *that* color it will be an extra $100!), didn't have listed items in stock, etc. I did thank them later that day on their Facebook page, however, for saving me over $500 because we walked out without buying from them. Edited for sentence structure
