All accusations should be investigated, but the accused should be innocent until proven guilty.

As in all crimes, initially a victim should always be believed. That's what an investigation is for.

This was not an alleged sexual assault. Not sure if the thread author is trying to say because the accuser was female her claim must be believed over the accused, a male.
In any violent assault, police will take a statement from the alleged victim and investigate the claim. The accused could be a male or female just as the alleged victim could be a male or female.

All accusations should be investigated, but the accused should be innocent until proven guilty. Why?? the ones being originally accused are not! ,,That is if they happen to be men,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, that is.

I don't always believe anyone. I believe evidence and proof and common sense.

It just means they are being investigated, which is as it should be.

It just means they are being investigated, which is as it should be. A charge should mean a reasonable level of investigation has already been completed, hopefully the charge is backed by enough evidence that can make it through a preliminary hearing or grand jury (though a grand jury IMO is really just a rubber stamp for the prosecution as the defense has no opportunity to rebut). A charge in my opinion is a very, very serious thing to level against someone as even without a conviction it makes the news and will seriously damage a persons career prospects and standing in the community. So I think to sum up my opinion to OP’s original question, I believe an accusers accusations should be taken seriously and investigated and they should be believed when the evidence of the investigation shows as such.

Do you always believe the accuser in a theft? Do you always the believe the accuser in a case of bribery? Vandalism? Do you always believe the accuser in cases of child abuse? Domestic assault? ... well.
What other crimes do accusers systemically start from a position of disbelief? get asked if they are really sure? Get questioned as to their behavior and motives at the onset of the complaint?
