Critics have complained about President Trump's MAGA program of not bringing wage gains to the economy and the typical American worker. Now even that is starting to happen as predicted. This was not ever going to be an immediate accomplishment, but takes time for the unemployed to become employed, reducing the unemployed percentage where businesses have to chase after workers with wage increases. www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/us-payrolls-rise-above-forecast-250000-as-wage-gains-hit-31percent/ar-BBPfThA?li=BBnbfcLJob creation in areas other than fast food and retail is also the difference maker. These are real jobs, many being fulltime jobs with benefits.

The need for a federal minimum wage has disappeared in most states. Many states have a higher minimum Wage than the federal rate, which imo is good since specific geographical areas have an insane cost of living base. These areas would never be at the Federal rate. Many states even with a minimum rate even with the federal rate are now seeing job openings and even current job rates well above the Federal minimum rate. MAGA

I always think it's funny when someone claims the president (when it's their party president) is single handedly making the economy purr, but when the economy does well under a different party president, it's doing well DESPITE the crappy job that president is doing.
It's the same people who blame a bad economy on the president if it's not their president, but is ready to tar and feather him if it's the president of the opposition party.
If the economy has gone south a year from now, we'll hear nothing but 'it's Hillary's/Obama's/The Dark Conspiracy/Brown People who wrecked our fabulous economy.... '

' not from me, unless the Dems win the house and spend two years trying to redo what the President has accomplished and creates some heartburn on Wall Street, thus creating the recession. Thankfully, the Senate will not agree on any of that legislation and we will have to settle for about 35 useless Congressional investigations that will make the Kavanaugh hearings sound like a walk in the park.

... thus creating the recession. ... Not "a", but "the" recession that we know is coming. I would not be saddened if the GOP does well next week and be in the position to wholly own it.

They've already pre-spun losing the House - they'll score that as a #WIN because they didn't lose the Senate and a #WIN because Obama did worse in his first midterm than Trump most likely will.
So it won't actually be that they lost the House - they'll have double WINS!!!
Somehow, when the recession comes, it will be entirely someone else's fault, or, it could have been much worse, except for Trump! #WIN!

Sure. And if America buys that and gives President Trump a second term, it is on us.

Trump came into an economy that was growing, but some economists said it could grow at a faster rate. Trump has accomplished that by eliminating regulations that protected our water and air among other things. He has, on the average, told 30 lies or untruths a day. Is that a way to run a country? He bullies and the first lady has an agenda against bullying. This isn't MAGA.

'false and misleading claims' is a polite way of saying ignorant and outright lies. Analysis: President Trump has made 6,420 false or misleading claims over 649 daysIf President Trump’s torrent of words has seemed overwhelming of late, there’s a good reason for that. In the first nine months of his presidency, Trump made 1,318 false or misleading claims, an average of five a day. But in the seven weeks leading up the midterm elections, the president made 1,419 false or misleading claims — an average of 30 a day. That adds up to a total of 6,420 claims through Oct. 30, the 649th day of his presidency, according to The Fact Checker’s database that analyzes, categorizes and tracks every suspect statement uttered by the president. The flood of presidential misinformation has picked up dramatically as the president has barnstormed across the country, holding rallies with his supporters. Each of those rallies usually yields 35 to 45 suspect claims. But the president often has tacked on interviews with local media (in which he repeats the same false statements) and gaggles with the White House press corps before and after his trips. So that adds up to 84 claims on Oct. 1, when he held a rally in Johnson City, Tenn.; 83 claims on Oct. 22, when he held a rally in Houston; and 78 claims on Oct. 19, when he held a rally in Mesa, Ariz. Complete article here: Analysis: President Trump has made 6,420 false or misleading claims over 649 days

Trump came into an economy that was growing, but some economists said it could grow at a faster rate. Trump has accomplished that by eliminating regulations that protected our water and air among other things. No, it's not the rollback of regulations which has spurred the job growth. It was that massive tax give away to corporations. But the price of that is a huge deficit which will impact the economy in coming years. Basically, the Republicans robbed from the future to add to today's economy. What's worse is that it will be harder to fight the next recession. Usually you fight a recession by decreasing taxes and decreasing interest rates. At least the Fed is raising the interest rates now while the economy is doing well, so we'll have that. But there's no room to make temporary tax decreases when the recession does hit and so the next recession will be more severe.

I wondered when Mitch came out a couple weeks ago talking about cutting SS/medicare because of the rising debt, if he was trying to throw the election. They got their big tax cuts and Supreme Court, are they done with President Trump. I have an inkling some are hoping for a "blue wave" so they won't have to deal with him. Let the DEMS have him? I won't be sad if conservatives keep Congress either and hope they do.

I have never seen such a mess in congress and the presidency. I am worried, think it will drive us into a depression if we are not careful. But other then vote nothing we can do. And if the dems do not take over at least the house we will move toward a dictatorship. Mark my words this guy will pull every trick in the book to take away our rights, he is trying it now. Everytime he can dilute one he does, he is chipping around the edges right now, then it will be a full on assault. I truly believe the soul of our democracy is at stake.

That is the only reason these assholes are politicians. From the article written October 17. 2018: "I think it's pretty safe to say that entitlement changes, which is the real driver of the debt by any objective standard, may well be difficult if not impossible to achieve when you have unified government," McConnell told Bloomberg.

Then, the rising debt can be blamed on the DEMS for not working with them on cuts to entitlements.

I'm listening to Obama now, excellent speaker, good points. Gillum I like Nelson is to old, he needs to retire. But he is what we have right now. Are you referencing Obama or Nelson in the last sentence? Since you and I both have Indiana residence, it is not up to us who Florida elects. That is part of the problem in politics today. The local citizens are losing the power to actually elect people they want to represent them because of all the outside political money influence through political parties and big business. If I were a Florida resident, neither Scott or Nelson would be an acceptable choice. In any given half hour program there is close to 12 politcal attack ads attacking the other candidate, many with outright lies, and maybe one for each candidate which might be a positive presentation of the actual candidate. The governor race is the exact same thing. It is so bad I miss the political Chicago attack ads I am used to seeing up north. I am surprised on how few yard signs you see promoting a candidate, as well as billboards here in Florida.

Scott is a big crook, should be in jail, defrauded medicare out of tons of money, I just don't like Nelson, hubs said he is likely ok. Of course its not my choice but I can express an opinon.
I don't like the governor of Indiana and one of the dem candidates either. Can't stand pence or trump and on and on.
I hope bunches of people in both parties get voted out, we need new blood, it might take them a year or two to get bought off before they sell us out.

About the harshest reaction from them is "it's just Donald being Donald" We have three or four Posters here who seem to be conservative in beliefs and strong supporters of Donald and his policies..I did ask one a question about "illegal workers" he claims he employs.. [whether he does or not who knows...a chat room...anything can be claimed] Got back a flippant answer...but I would like to hear the conservatives here... [no matter what the mods claim, I feel this forum definitely swings much more left then right...] reasons for continuing to support the Donald, knowing his history of lying in his statements.. [most of these conservative posters here are intelligent well spoken folks] Why they accept these lies and mistruths...for that matter his seeming attacks on minorities, refugees...the seeming hate and definitely his continuing posts that keep the nation divided..[it is.].. As long as they are posting here in a forum that is not friendly toward their views.. I feel it's good to have a diverse group with other beliefs politically, otherwise a forum becomes boring as participants just seem to be patting each other on the back...been there once very boring and uninteresting. They know our feelings...why not return the favor and let us know the whys of theirs. Who knows? ..If stated well they might change a few of us in our own beliefs or moderate these beliefs in some ways at least. Just saying.

There's been a flurry of conservative Republicans advocating publically that GOPers vote democratic, because Trump has been pretty much the opposite of a conservative - racking up the deficit, fat tax break for the 1%, etc.
Here is one who voted for the GOP for 40 years. He sees it as a way to clean the GOP house of the Trump cult and re-establish the party as the true conservative party.
