i bought some steel cut oats and now i'm trying to figure out what to do with them. sure i love me some oatmeal but oatmeal chocolate chip cookies would be way tastier. anyone have experience with steel cut or modifying recipes to include steel cut oats?

i think they're part of the health craze. rolled oats are processed (rolled, steamed, and toasted) where as steel cut oats are just that. they look like finely chopped nuts.

Steel cut oats take far longer to cook, so I do not think they would work well in cookie recipees.. maybe if you par boiled them first, or something.

flopsy--some people make oatmeal flour by throwing it in the blender for a while. I'm at work so don't have time to look it up, but maybe you could do that with it? Brings a whole new flavor to cookies and breads.
