I am not sure what the NY Times is trying to accomplish with this. Is it more fake news? Is it actually true news? Was Rosenstein just joking around at the time? Was everything taken out of context by the people, or one person in the room at the time? Is McCabe doing a "Hail Mary" to save his ass if he is the source? If I were Trump, I would leave Rosentein in place right now. He could go for a twofer and fire him as well as Mueller if this is true. My feeling is, it is all come unraveling for the deep state now, and leave them in place to destroy themselves in the near future is the best option..... Actually why would Mueller be fired...Rosenstein too for that matter...but in the case of Mueller...very quiet from his end...seems when ever some one is charged with anything coming out of his investigations, they are pleading guilty...so what seems to be the problem. Only one really talking about it , him in particular is the Donald and his representative... |

Just more unsubstantiated he said she said yapping....no one identified...Lordy if what I have said about our current POTUS was reported, I would expect SS to be breaking down my doors with weapons off safety... How can you investigate a bureaucratic coup when a coup hasn't taken place?
There were other witnesses to Rosenstein's comments that said he was just joking when he talked about the 25th amendment. At the time, he was very rattled from Trump firing Comey, and no doubt under a lot of stress. I think this might be a tempest in a tea cup, myself.
Not that there aren't staff members ready to invoke the 25th amendment and step in, if needed, but that's not some deep state conspiracy, that would be true for any president. Probably it should have been invoked against Reagan, who was showing signs of dementia before the end of his term. Someone has to step in if the president (any president) decided to bomb Canada, or something similarly ridiculous. With all the shit going on with Trump right now, and with both his parents having dementia before they died, it's not far fetched to think that Trump might suddenly lash out in an inappropriate way, using nuclear weapons.

My guess: he is looking for the "deep state" WH phone book, since he didn't find anyone named Unnamed Source in the official phone book I think Trump's problem in finding the snitch is that it could be pretty much ANYONE in his administration.
I'm sure they're all looking for ways to salvage their careers post-Trump. At some point, Trump will just be bad spot in the collective memory, but the rest of the staff will have to find a way to support their families, and 'toady for Trump' won't look that great on a resume.
