Am I the only one who thinks the dad from the prodigal son story is kinda a jerk who took advantage of the faithful son who was there for him every day?

For my whole life, I have hated this story. I have been told it is supposed to make me feel better, but it just makes me want to wander away and only come back if I don't find anything better.
