I had the privilege of working with a super-entrepreneur, someone that has opened multiple successful small businesses or a giant one. It wasn’t on the Jobs/Gates/Musk level but it is incredible listening to them and seeing how they tick at a close level, I learned a lot. I think Musk will either go down as a massive genius or an insane bust. I sure hope it ends up being the former.

Right now the short sellers are very happy with the stock in the last two weeks. It looked like he was going to win the battle with the shorts when he announced a buy out possibility. Since then, it is all down hill.

According to finviz JPM securities initiated coverage on Oct 24 as a market outperform with a price target of $350. On the same day Bank of America/Merrill reiterated an underperform with a target of $220. Then on Oct 25 Cascend Securities upgraded from sell to buy with a target of $400. It sure seemed to be the turning point VB. I couldn't agree more about the talent fleeing. The head of accounting leaving before the "blowout" quarter says something like this.....


"Musk said Tesla TSLA, -8.93% faces a tough challenge of “making our cars, batteries and solar products cost-competitive with fossil fuels,” and that the company’s products are “still too expensive for most people,” according to the update on the company’s blog that was emailed to all employees."

AKA, I have been blowing smoke for years and because my BS caught up with me on execution IRT model 3 production; I lost my lead time competitive edge and now I'm flooded out of the market by competition. Since there is basically ZERO charging infrastructure on a large scale and most people have ZERO interest in relying on a battery for transportation, all the rosy predictions are very questionable!

Plus, look at it from the big manufacturers POV; they get to say they gave it their all with the electric car while crushing Musk at the same time.

Have to admit though, the niche electric super car market is pretty bad ass!

Tesla held off announcing their earnings yesterday for over an hour after scheduled to do so.
The quarter was worse than anyone predicted.
Today the stock is down all of $3.78 a share.
Any legitimate company reporting the numbers they did would be down 10 to 15% this morning.

About the tax credit, the one in Canada, TSLA doesn’t qualify for it. They say it's over cost, but something tells me the 50lbs of dirt they are pulling out of the model 3 body panels probably has something to do with it.

I am not much of a chartist, but I think TSLA broke through a key support area at the $250 mark today.

The tax credit is honestly so unreal, you can total tell it's a hangover from the Obama era. It hasn't been brought up here yet I don't think, but what Musk does is waits until the end of the year to push all the credits through that way he can goose "profits." There were obviously enough from the model 3 to juice the last two quarters last year, and now we see the hangover. So, with one quarter of credits gone, even the reinstated credit might not be enough to save him this year.

The stock price should be interesting to watch now. Mush has always used his deposit ponzi to push development of the next vehicle. With cash on hand way down, cash burn still very much on; the questions on just how all of his next promises are going to be paid for are coming to light. More cash raise coming, but with solar city fading and the Gigafactory floundering....accelerating, he is not!

All the way down to the bond price is where the stock price ended. Nice little bounce as I'd bet the remaining bulls pulled the trigger thinking fair price. But, when a long term bull analyst says Q1 was like the Twilight Zone...is the bull case still intact?

Probably an apt assessment of the situation. However, as the professor points out, there are no margins here. So, the idea that Google might bite to sell advertising seems.....a little weak to me. Considering the $$$$ burn at ALL these 21st century "disruptors," perhaps the more things change, the more the stay the same.

Shrinking margins, record deliveries but bigger losses. With no $$$$ for a line refresh, forget $$$ for all these new projects; that recent $$$ raise was just basically eaten. Meanwhile, more and more executives flee. So, is P.T. Elon crazy, or just the ppl who directly invest in this guy's companies??
